No hay nada que no pueda mirarse con filosofía, y este evento de Caracas Blockchain Week no queda por fuera, puede ser apreciado de manera filosófica. Sé bien que sobreabundan los post sobre este evento y es que sin duda cada experiencia es y debe ser contada, esto no es algo que ocurra todos los días. Ahora bien, después de varios días de haber transcurrido el evento, he reflexionado un poco sobre las implicaciones de un evento como este a nivel filosófico.
Lo primero que debo acotar es que ha habido una amplia gama de ponencias increíbles, y aunque algunas tocaron temas realmente, profundos no hubo ninguna ponencia hablando de blockchain, web3, criptos y sus implicaciones filosóficas. De modo que, para la próxima edición en el año 2023, espero poder tener la oportunidad de profundizar como ponente en las implicancias de la blockchain a nivel filosófico. Aunque se tocaron temas como la regulación, unos ponentes a favor otros no tan de acuerdo, no sé hasta qué punto se profundizó en las reflexiones políticas de la regulación o la ausencia de ella.
No puedo asegurar la ausencia de esto, ya que no pude entrar a todas las ponencias, ya que me encontraba en el stand de Hive, mostrando de la manera humanamente posible todo el ecosistema de Hive. De modo que esto, me ha hecho pensar en ciertos aspectos filosóficos que sin duda han habitado en el deambular blockchain, independientemente de la geografía, tendencias políticas o religiosas.
La blockchain como tecnología disruptiva, nos ha hecho repensar la manera de contemplar el mundo, y nuestra relación no solo con lo que nos rodea sino con las demás personas. Al ser algo propiamente digital, promover encuentros como estos, lo que hace es traspasar las fronteras de la web. Imprimiendo en el comportamiento humano la necesidad de el contacto con el otro. Ni siquiera una utopía blockchain ignora el encuentro con el otro.
La blockchain posee características que si las consideramos seriamente puede hacernos plantearnos nuevos horizontes dentro de lo humano. Pero, qué características posee la blockchain que nos puede hacer considerar nuestras definiciones. La descentralización, la inmutabilidad y el código abierto, son solo tres aspectos que nos hacen repensarnos. Pero esto lo abordaré en otra oportunidad con más precisión. Pero, pensar lo humano y su horizonte es un aspecto realmente interesante.
Para hablar de política siempre hay que remitirse a la figura del poder, y la manera de construir una blockchain a través de nodos que no se centran en un único espacio sino que se encuentran dispersos, además de existir protocolos como el que usa Hive Dpos, permite que concibamos una estructura de poder de un modo nada convencional. De hecho, en la CBW, las personas al acercarse al stand de Hive, y preguntar por su CEO o si teníamos alguna sede, cosa que ya sabemos todos la respuesta, no poseemos un CEO o “oficinas centrales” las personas quedaban realmente asombradas.
La blockchain al ser un libro contable, una base de datos de texto inmutable, y de código abierto, hace que toda transacción quede registrada para siempre, sin tener la capacidad de alterar montos, desvíos de capitales de manera oculta, acá todo se conserva hasta que se apague el internet.
Y como estos hay un incontable abanico de temas y problemas que competen a la filosofía en torno al mundo blockchain. Por ello desde ya, estaré esbozando diferentes reflexiones en este ámbito. Disertaciones que eventualmente estaré compartiendo con ustedes estimados lectores por mi blog acá en las redes sociales de Hive. A veces, frente a la innovación las emociones y las expectativas proponen un ambiente en tensión, comprometiendo nuestra capacidad de razonar con criterios sólidos. En el fondo somos seres emocionales con una inclinación a lo racional. De modo que, siempre frente a la innovación, la emoción a priori puede sesgar los siguientes pasos. Por ello, la filosofía surge como aquella disciplina que complejiza la realidad.
Es por ello, que para la próxima edición de la Caracas Blockchain Week, propondré asuntos filosóficos a reflexionar y debatir. Para ser la primera edición de un evento como este, ha quedado más que perfecto, tanto por las actividades que se llevaron a cabo, como por las incontables conexiones y colaboraciones que han hecho los diferentes proyectos, tanto nacionales como globales. En el fondo, todos estamos dando pasos en el horizonte de un porvenir que ni siquiera nos alcanza la imaginación.
Antes de llegar al punto final de esta disertación, debo invitar a preguntarse de manera introspectiva, que tanto la blockchain implica un modo de ser diferente de vivir y de concebir al mundo desde tu punto de vista. Normalmente lo cotidiano guarda un misterio que no es hasta poder detenernos en el ejercicio de contemplación de lo que somos y hacemos, podemos vivir una vida sin demasiados criterios.
There is nothing that cannot be looked at philosophically, and this Caracas Blockchain Week event is not left out, it can be appreciated in a philosophical way. I know well that there is an overabundance of posts about this event and there is no doubt that every experience is and must be told, this is not something that happens every day. Now, after several days of the event, I have reflected a little on the implications of an event like this at a philosophical level.
The first thing I should note is that there has been a wide range of incredible papers, and although some touched on really, really deep topics there were no papers talking about blockchain, web3, cryptos and their philosophical implications. So, for the next edition in 2023, I hope to have the opportunity to delve into the philosophical implications of blockchain as a speaker. Although topics such as regulation were touched upon, some speakers in favor others not so much in agreement, I don't know to what extent the political reflections of regulation or the absence of it were delved into.
I cannot assure the absence of this, as I could not get into all the presentations, as I was at the Hive booth, showing as much as humanly possible the whole Hive ecosystem. So this, has made me think about certain philosophical aspects that have undoubtedly inhabited the blockchain wanderings, regardless of geography, political or religious tendencies.
The blockchain as a disruptive technology, has made us rethink the way we contemplate the world, and our relationship not only with what surrounds us but with other people. Being something properly digital, promoting meetings like these, what it does is to go beyond the boundaries of the web. Impressing on human behavior the need for contact with others. Not even a blockchain utopia ignores the encounter with the other.
The blockchain possesses characteristics that if we consider them seriously can make us consider new horizons within the human. But, what characteristics does the blockchain possess that can make us consider our definitions. Decentralization, immutability and open source are just three aspects that make us rethink. But I will address this another time with more precision. But, thinking about the human and its horizon is a really interesting aspect.
To talk about politics we always have to refer to the figure of power, and the way of building a blockchain through nodes that are not centered in a single space but are dispersed, in addition to the existence of protocols such as the one used by Hive Dpos, allows us to conceive a power structure in an unconventional way. In fact, at CBW, when people approached the Hive booth, and asked about their CEO or if we had any headquarters, which we all know the answer, we do not have a CEO or "headquarters" people were really astonished.
The blockchain being a ledger, a database of immutable text, and open source, makes every transaction is recorded forever, without the ability to alter amounts, diversions of capital in a hidden way, here everything is preserved until the internet is turned off.
And like these there is a countless range of issues and problems that fall under the philosophy surrounding the blockchain world. Therefore, from now on, I will be outlining different reflections in this area. Dissertations that I will eventually be sharing with you dear readers through my blog here on Hive's social networks. Sometimes, when faced with innovation, emotions and expectations create a tense environment, compromising our ability to reason with solid criteria. Deep down we are emotional beings with an inclination to the rational. Thus, always in the face of innovation, a priori emotion can bias the next steps. That is why philosophy emerges as the discipline that makes reality more complex.
That is why, for the next edition of the Caracas Blockchain Week, I will propose philosophical issues to reflect and debate. For being the first edition of an event like this, it has been more than perfect, both for the activities that took place, as well as for the countless connections and collaborations that have been made by the different projects, both national and global. In the end, we are all taking steps towards the horizon of a future that is beyond our imagination.
Before reaching the final point of this dissertation, I must invite you to ask yourself introspectively, how much the blockchain implies a different way of living and conceiving the world from your point of view. Normally the everyday holds a mystery that is not until we can pause in the exercise of contemplation of what we are and do, we can live a life without too many criteria.
