When it comes to alcohol, without a doubt a good Whiskey or Bourbon reigns supreme. The instantaneous heightened sense of relaxation as the first drop trickles towards the tastebuds. A couple of sips and the stresses of your daily endeavours perish, as you enter a trance of contentment. Ahh Life’s Good!!
There’s a huge difference between a good bottle of whiskey however, and a nasty bottle that tastes like fuckin paint stripper. Often some of the cheaper bottles fit the latter description, leaving you with what feels like 3rd degree burns in the back of your oesophagus as you try to sip it down. Nobody wants that shit, NOBODY!!
Price isn’t always a true reflection though I have found. It can be a bit of a lottery sometimes, so it pays to do a little bit of research especially if your planning on splashing out the big dollars. For me, I usually explore different options around the $50 mark that have been reduced from say $60-$70. Call me a tight-arse, but I’m a sucker for a deal.
Sheep Dog, Peanut Butter Whiskey
I love trying new products that appear unique, so you could imagine my astonishment when I stumbled across this oddly attractive character. Peanut Butter flavoured whiskey, what the fuck.
That is one hell of an intriguing concoction I thought to myself, and peanut butter has never let me down in the past. After all I was craving something sweet for desert, looks like we’re sorted.
Louisville Kentucky, in the mighty USA is where this magic happens. A state famous and world renowned for producing Kentucky Bourbon. The ABV is 35% which is standard when it comes to Whiskeys.
Aesthetically Simple, Yet Enticing
For me the design is quite simple in nature, but really jumped out at me from the liquor shelf. The words Sheep Dog stood out boldly, making an instant connection with my eyesight. The big yellow paw print is a superb touch too, right in the centre really drawing the shoppers attention to the product.
And then the three magic words.. Peanut Butter Whiskey!! You got me, hook, line, and sinker.. Let’s Gooo!!
The Million Dollar Question
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, well the moment I’ve been waiting for anyway.
Whiskey should always be consumed on the rocks to truly appreciate its beauty, and tonight was no different. 7 ice cubes, and a double shot of whiskey usually does it for me.
And Sheep Dog was no disappointment in fact the first sip was heavenly. The aroma’s of the peanut butter were everly present, however it was not overpowering detracting from the traditional whiskey taste. It was an extremely smooth drop, aided strongly by the pairing with the peanut butter flavouring. To me it tasted miraculous, in the sense that peanut butter and whiskey actually complemented one another so well. Who would have bloody thought really.
My only criticism is that the peanut butter flavour can make it taste a little sickening, and potentially too sweet for some. One glass was absolutely delicious, the perfect after dinner treat. After two or three glasses, I’d suspect the sweetness would become a little too much.
In Conclusion Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey is unique and devilishly tasty. For any peanut butter lovers out there this one is definitely for you. At a reasonable value of $50 a bottle on special, this is definitely value for money. As a result of its sweet nature, it’s also one that will remain in the liquor cabinet a bit longer than the usual bottle I reckon.
