Unnecessary Products for Pilgrims [CCC's Street Art Contest #171]

Good morning!

Here are a few shots of a work I saw in Melide, Galicia. This is part of a set of works you can find scattered through Spain and Portugal, sponsored by the beer company Estrella Galicia.

This is my entry for the CCC's Street Art Contest #171, hosted by @digi-me.

From a distance... and with those trees standing on the way, at first I though this was supposed to be the pope. After all, it would fit the religious theme of the Camiño de Santiago (St. James Way)... 🤔

He's got a weird hat for a pope, though... but without the full picture I wasn't understand what it was.

I had to move a bit to the side to get the trees out of the way. It was only then I realised it wasn't the pope at all but an old man in a beekeeper costume. 😆😆😆

Still, I was a bit confused. I don't understand what beer and honey have to do with the religious spirit of the journey. It seems to me these products are not something pilgrims will usually consume along the way. 😅

Here's a closer look at the whole picture.

I hope you enjoyed these shots. See you next time!
