A Graffiti Made By and For Volunteers, in San Francisco

Hello again, Bees of the Hive!

Tonight I bring you a photo of a very colourful and cheerful Graffiti mural I've come across in San Francisco.

This is called the Tenderloin Community Volunteer Mural and is filled with messages written by a community of volunteers and it addresses the challenges of the Homeless as well as of the Volunteers.

At the bottom part there's even a poem called The Volunteer:

You use your skill
In days to fill
When selfish behavior
No longer thrills

Aimless time will pass they say
But it cannot compare with the giving day
Because no higher calling
Exists or can
Than one who is serving
His fellow man

And they don't do it because they know they should
They do it because it makes them feel good.

Other messages can be read at the right part of the wall, such as:

Sustained sobriety means a better life

Please respect the homeless

Community, Not Confinement

Represent Health
Fruits
Vegetation
Vegetables
Water
form a healthy Apple

We need a garden

We need dental

Housing is a human right

My photo only shows half of the mural, I'm afraid. At the time I wasn't as much into Street Art as I am today and, since the rest of the mural was in the shade, I didn't take any more photos. A shame, I know... 🙄

However, you can see the rest of the mural (and learn a bit more about it) in the article below:

Apparently, this community has been painting a lot of murals all over San Francisco. I'd love to revisit this city, taking the time to explore all the new artworks made in the last 10 years. I bet there's a lot of new cool stuff I would be happy to admire! 🤗
