Today i'm sharing something completely different than graffiti or painted murals. This time i've edited some photos of an older building from the DDR/GDR Era i shot the other day after a job at the Alexanderplatz. The building is the "Haus des Lehrers" / "House of the Teacher" and it has an artful natural stone mosaic piece wrapped around the entire building, yes you read it right, a stone mosaic piece and it is extending between the second and fifth floors. The piece is a mexican style mural called "Unser Leben" / "Our Life" by Walter Womacka and depicts various occupational groups of and aspects of life in the GDR (German Democratic Republik).

The building itself isn't such a great beauty and this article is not about architecture so i decided to edit the photos in black and white only leaving the art in color. Let's start with a shot from "behind", meaning from away from the road side which furthermore acts as establishing shot to make it very clear where we are.

Here's the closeup shot of that part of the piece. You should click and zoom this to discover all the datails in there.

From here we go right around the building to one of the short sides of the building.

Now behold one of the shots for some context, so you get a feel of how the building looks like in color.

Back to black and focussing on the art again. Behold part three and the second wide part of the wrapped around piece.

And here's the fourth and last part of the piece on the second short side of the building closing with a nice friendly face of a beautiful woman.

And last but not least the second shot for some more context of the surroundings from the road side containing a sculpture that just happens to stand there and point to the building.
