Hola amigos de esta increible comunidad de @StreetArt y de Hive en general. Cuando escuché que la palabra para esta semana del Graffiti Lettering Contest #16 era:
"WHAT"
inmediatamente pensé en sorpresa o incredulidad. No tuve duda de cómo quería representarlo. Sin embargo no estaba segura de lo que exactamente haría, lo cual parece contradictorio, lo sé. Quería una cara con la boca abierta y la palabra WHAT dentro de ella, pero estaba segura de cómo sería.
Así que tuve que improvisar bastante hasta obtener el resultado final. No fue totalmente satisfactorio para mí, pero me siento realizada de cumplir con una entrega más de este concurso que me ha cautivado. Así que ya de por sí, eso es un logro. No había mirado mucho, las entradas que ya habían colgado en el post de invitación, porque la verdad que he tenido algunas circunstancias adversas.
Pero, antes de comenzar a redactar mi post, di una pasada por las entradas ya publicadas y me llevé una gran sorpresa. Son demasiadas las entradas que son increíbles, así que esta vez, creo que si acaso, llegaré después de la ambulancia jajaja 🤣. Incluso me será muy difícil escoger tres favoritas, de las cuales, por supuesto ya tengo una preferida 😉 y seleccionada con antelación 😋.
Hello friends of this incredible @StreetArt community and Hive in general. When I heard that the word for this week's Graffiti Lettering Contest #16 was:
"WHAT"
I immediately thought surprise or disbelief. I had no doubt how I wanted to represent it. I wasn't sure exactly what I would do though, which seems contradictory, I know. I wanted a face with an open mouth and the word WHAT inside it, but I was sure what it would look like. For the face expression I got my inspiration here.
So I had to improvise quite a bit until I got the final result. It wasn't totally satisfactory for me, but I feel accomplished to fulfill one more installment of this contest that has captivated me. So that in itself is an accomplishment. I hadn't looked much at the entries that had already been posted in the invitation post, because the truth is that I have had some adverse circumstances.
But, before I started to write my post, I took a look at the entries already published and I got a big surprise. There are too many entries that are amazing, so this time, I think if anything, I will arrive after the ambulance hahaha 🤣. It will even be very hard for me to pick three favorites, of which, of course I already have a favorite 😉 and selected in advance 😋.

✔️ Rotuladores negros de diferente grosor.
✔️ Half sheet of bond paper base 20 (recycled).

✔️ Colored pencils.
✔️ Pencil sharpener.
✔️ Colored markers.
✔️ Fuchsia, yellow and orange highlighters.
✔️ Black markers of different thickness.
Procedimiento de elaboración del grafiti // Graffiti production procedure
🎨 Lo primero que hice fue trazar el boceto a lápiz. Inicialmente solo era la cara con la expresión de asombro y la palabra WHAT dentro de la boca. Luego me di cuenta que la imagen no estaba centrada y que quizás le hacían falta más elementos y decidí agregarle otras cosas.
The first thing I did was to draw the pencil sketch. Initially it was just the face with the astonished expression and the word WHAT inside the mouth. Then I realized that the image was not centered and that maybe it was missing more elements and I decided to add other things to it.
🎨 Luego repasé todo el contorno con rotulador negro. Después de lo cual borré los trazos de lápiz que estaban visibles.
Then I went over the entire outline with black marker. After which I erased the pencil strokes that were visible.
🎨 Lo siguiente que hice fue pintar la lengua de rojo, con lápices de colores así cómo el interior de las letras. En este caso, como no tenía a mano la pintura blanca, traté de dejar el espacio de las luces en blanco. También le coloqué una sombra a los dientes.
The next thing I did was to paint the tongue red, with colored pencils, as well as the inside of the letters. In this case, as I didn't have white paint at hand, I tried to leave the space of the lights in white. I also put a shadow on the teeth.
🎨 Luego sobre el color de las letras apliqué el resaltador del mismo tono.
Then over the color of the letters I applied the highlighter of the same tone.
🎨 Como vi que la hoja estaba muy blanca, decidí darle forma a la cara agregar como una especie de bolitas de humo. También le di sombra a algunos detalles.
As I saw that the leaf was very white, I decided to give shape to the face by adding some kind of smoke balls. I also shaded some details.
🎨 Con un color más oscuro del mismo tono, traté de darle sombra a las letras.
With a darker color of the same shade, I tried to shade the letters.
🎨 Le dibujé splash color azul, firmé mi trabajo y pinté de color amarillo el interior de la cara. Con esto termine mi Grafiti 😜.
I drew a blue splash, signed my work and painted the inside of the face in yellow. With this I finished my Graffiti 😜.
