Today I want to share with you a wonderful experience I had while walking along Calle Bernaza in Old Havana. My destination was Obispo Boulevard, where you can find several interesting shops. However, something caught my attention at the corner of Obrapía and Bernaza. 100 metres before I got there, my eyes lit up.
On the back of La Moderna Poesía there is some graffiti that adorned that corner. But what surprised me the most was to discover that they are in a significant place. There is an inscription on the wall that details that it is the first steel engraving factory in Cuba, founded in 1910. Although the walls are somewhat battered over the years, the artists left their work there. We know that these works of art are ephemeral since they remain exposed to the elements and to the whims of man's hand, but today they give color to these battered walls

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia maravillosa que tuve mientras caminaba por la Calle Bernaza en la Habana Vieja. Mi destino era el Boulevard Obispo, donde se encuentran varias tiendas interesantes. Sin embargo, algo llamó mi atención en la esquina de Obrapía y Bernaza. 100 metros antes de llegar, se me iluminaron los ojos.
En la parte trasera de La Moderna Poesía hay unos grafitis que adornaba esa esquina. Pero lo que más me sorprendió fue descubrir que están en un lugar significativo. Hay una inscripción en la pared que detalla que se trata de la primera fábrica de grabados en acero de Cuba, fundada en 1910. Aunque las paredes están algo maltratadas por el paso de los años, los artistas dejaron allí su obra. Sabemos que estas obras de arte son efímeras ya que permanecen expuestas a la intemperie y a los caprichos de la mano del hombre, pero hoy en día dan color a estas maltrechas paredes.
I chose for the competition precisely the one found when the streets meet, a work that presents two faces of both sexes with helmets symbolising leadership. Through their expressions and their golden attire, they convey a sense of power and authority. The closed eyes and black complexion add a dimension of introspection and diversity. The man wears a long beard and the woman's helmet is shaped like an owl, suggesting guidance and wisdom.
This work invites us to reflect on our own capacity for leadership and the importance of wisdom in our lives.
Escogí para el concurso justamente la que se encuentra cuando las calles se juntan, es una obra que presenta dos rostros de ambos sexos con cascos que simbolizan liderazgo. A través de sus expresiones y su atuendo dorado, transmiten una sensación de poder y autoridad. Los ojos cerrados y la tez negra añaden una dimensión de introspección y diversidad. El hombre lleva una larga barba y el casco de la mujer tiene forma de búho, lo que sugiere guía y sabiduría.
Esta obra nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestra propia capacidad de liderazgo y la importancia de la sabiduría en nuestras vidas.
On both sides of the graffiti I am talking about there are two works that I also show you, they are a bit worn, I could distinguish that they correspond to recognised plastic artists who have their art in different areas of Havana. I identified Myl's art and 2+2=5 although I noticed some acronyms between the graffiti that may represent another artist.
Myl has become one of Havana's most prominent street artists, whose career has left a significant mark on the urban art scene. His ability to combine diverse elements makes his style visually striking. From 2+2= 5 we can say that his work cannot be ignored, he has filled the city with colour, creativity and powerful messages. These artists have transformed some of Havana's walls into canvases, making them very colourful.
However, although I have recognised them, I cannot say that they are the authors of the painting of the two faces, because it is not signed, although I am more inclined to Myl because the painting does not have aspects that define the work of 2+2= 5.Texto aquí
A ambos lados del graffiti del que hablo hay dos obras que también les muestro, están un poco desgastadas, pude distinguir que corresponden a reconocidos artistas plásticos que tienen su arte en diferentes zonas de La Habana. Identifiqué el arte de Myl y 2+2=5 aunque noté algunas siglas entre los grafitis que pueden representar a otro artista.
Myl se ha convertido en uno de los artistas callejeros más destacados de La Habana, cuya carrera ha dejado una huella significativa en la escena del arte urbano. Su habilidad para combinar diversos elementos hace que su estilo sea visualmente impactante. De 2+2= 5 podemos decir que su obra no puede ser ignorada, ha llenado la ciudad de color, creatividad y poderosos mensajes. Estos artistas han transformado algunos muros de La Habana en lienzos, haciéndolos muy coloridos.
Sin embargo, aunque los he reconocido, no puedo decir que sean los autores del cuadro de los dos rostros, porque no está firmado, aunque me inclino más por Myl porque el cuadro no tiene aspectos que definan la obra de 2+2= 5.
I hope you enjoy these works of art as much as I do, despite the wear and tear. Time has left its mark, but you can still appreciate the genius of these creations.
