We continue to discover the murals made during this edition of the Mural Festival. The two previous years, the festival was a bit slow because of the Covid. It's cool to see the major Street Art event in Montreal come back with artists from all over the world. Today, it's a wall painted by Hatecopy on Saint-Laurent boulevard.

On continue de découvrir les murales faites pendant cette édition du Mural Festival. Les 2 années précédentes, le festival s'était déroulé un peu au ralenti à cause de la Covid. C'est cool de voir l'évènement majeur pour le Street Art (grand public) à Montréal revenir avec en force avec des artistes provenant du monde entier. Aujourd'hui, c'est le mur peint par Hatecopy sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent.

As usual, I wake up early on the weekend... I try to get out of my house before 9am (it's not so early) to enjoy the deserted streets. However, for this mural, I had the morning sun right on top. But the wall remained entirely in the shade. I came back in the afternoon to get the sunny mural but since there is a lot of traffic on this corner, always cars parked in front of it (see the last picture of the article). I can't have everything. 😀

Comme à mon habitude, je me réveille tôt pendant le weekend... enfin tôt, j'essaye de sortir de chez moi avant 9h pour profiter des rues désertes. Par contre pour cette murale, j'avais le soleil matinal juste au dessus. Mais le mur restait entièrement à l'ombre. Je suis revenu en après-midi pour avoir la murale ensoleillée mais comme il y a beaucoup de circulation à ce coin de rue, toujours des voitures garées devant (voir la dernière photo de l'article). On ne peut pas tout avoir. 😀

I was curious to see the translation Naya Zamana and Naya Din!", according to Google, New Age and New Day. If anyone can confirm, that would be cool.

J'étais curieux pour voir la traduction Naya Zamana et Naya Din !, d'après Google, Nouvel Âge et Nouveau Jour. Si quelqu'un peut confirmer, cela serait cool.

Maria Qamar aka Hatecopy is an artist born in Karachi (Pakistan) in 1991. She has been living in Toronto with her family since 2001. Her teenage years were quite difficult especially in school after 9/11, a lot of racism. Her work addresses the reality of the Desi community (South Asian diaspora) in North America. She gained recognition following the publication of her book Trust No Aunty published in 2017.

Maria Qamar aka Hatecopy est une artiste née à Karachi au Pakistan en 1991. Elle est installée avec sa famille depuis 2001 à Toronto. Son adolescent fut assez difficile surtout à l'école après le 11 septembre, beaucoup de racisme. Son travail aborde la réalité de la communauté Desi (diaspora sud-asiatique) en Amérique du Nord. Great wall with these 5 female portraits in a Pop Art style with a Southeast Asian touch. Really cool... I tried to translate the few words written and depending on the order it gave me a different translation. The one that seems most likely to me:
**Naya Zamana! Naya Din ! Ye hai har aurat ki nayi duniya!
New Age! New day ! This is the new world of every woman!

Superbe mur avec ces 5 portraits féminins dans un style Pop Art avec une touche du Sud Est asiatique. Vraiment cool... J'ai essayé de traduire les quelques mots inscrits et tout dépendant de l'ordre cela me donnait une traduction différente. Celle qui me semble la plus probable :
Naya Zamana ! Naya Din ! Ye hai har aurat ki nayi duniya !
Nouvel Age! nouveau jour ! C'est le nouveau monde de chaque femme !.
