Here my entry for the CCC's Street Art Contest #62 with this beautiful wall done by Rafael Sottolichio in Septembre 2011. Except for 3 tags (which are acceptable) at the foot of the mural, it's still in very good condition despite its advanced age of 10 years (for a mural, this must correspond to at least 100 years of human life 😀)
Voici mon entrée pour le CCC's Street Art Contest #62 (incroyable déjà 62ème édition) avec ce magnifique mur fait par Rafael Sottolichio en septembre 2021. A part les 3 tags (qui sont acceptables) au pied de la murale, elle est encore en très bon état malgré son âge avancé de 10 ans (pour une murale, cela doit correspondre à au moins 100 ans pour un Homme) 😀

Rafael Sottolichio is an artist born in Santiago (Chile) and lived in Montreal since 1975. He studied visual art at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal). He's an accomplished painter with numerous solo exhibitions (especially Galerie Lacerte Art in Montreal). And he painted also walls, especially commissioned by MU, a Montreal-based organization dedicated to beautifying the city like this wall Machine consciente (Conscious machine - if you have a better traduction, I don't like mine).
Rafael Sottolichio est un artiste né à Santiago (Chili) et vivant à Montréal depuis 1975. Il a étudié les arts visuels à l'UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal). C'est un peintre accompli avec de nombreuses expositions individuelles (notamment à la Galerie Lacerte Art à Montréal). Il fait également des murales, notamment à la demande de MU, organisme montréalais qui se consacre à l'embellissement de la ville comme pour cette œuvre Machine consciente.

Machine consciente looks like a theater with the backstage machinery and extras in the center. And fortunately the artist has explained a little about his work on his website (rafaelsottolichio.com). The green circle at the top represents the "enlightening" nature. At the bottom, the rising water represents climate change. In fact, this mural is a reflection on our consciousness and the link it has with nature and its fragility. Very philosophical... I like it because this wall is located at a busy intersection in terms of traffic. But it doesn't show up very well in my photos, it's pretty green with the trees and lawn but behind me there are at least 6 lanes for cars.
Machine consciente ressemble à un décor de théâtre avec en son centre comme l'envers du décors avec la machinerie et les figurants. Et heureusement que l'artiste a expliqué un peu son œuvre sur son site web (rafaelsottolichio.com). Le cercle vert en haut représente la nature "éclairante". En bas, la montée des eaux représente les changements climatiques. En fait, cette murale est réfléxion sur notre conscience et le lien qu'elle a avec la nature et sa fragilité. Très philosophique tout cela... J'aime bien car ce mur se situe en plus à un coin de rue très passant pour les voitures. Mais cela ne se voit pas très bien sur mes photos, c'est plutôt vert avec les arbres et la pelouse mais derrière moi, il y a au moins 6 voies pour les voitures. 😀
