STREET ART #142 - Palermo's street art

01.jpg

Only a few weeks ago, I finally got to visit Buenos Aires, (Argentina) once again. We had chosen a hotel in Palermo, which is probably the largest of the city's districts. It's trendy area with lots of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. I also remember from last time that there were lots of street art. That still is a fact. Already on our first walk to explore the area did offer street art around each and every corner.

Because we were here shortly after Argentina's won the world cup in football, we also noticed street art picturing the team and Lionel Messy. Even a Santa was dressed in the argentenian colors and in his bag he had the golden trophy. I don't know much about football, but I did watch the match between France and Argentina. Luckily I could recognize some of the faces, like Messy.

As we walked the streets in Palermo we kept stopping to admire the street art. I did see some signatures, but otherwise I don't know much about the artists. Some might be international, but I am not sure. Some of the works also has a potical or social character. Most of them are found in the district of La Boca. When graffiti and street art was at it's beginning, it was a way to convey messages against the government and raise awareness.
