Every time I drive down to our local beach here in Lagos, the Meia Praia I´ll pass that old ruine next to the shipyard.
This building is really very shabby and only consists of the outer facade. It looks like the construction work stopped here years ago. But still this building has found its use. It looks like it is a practice area for budding artists.
Or is this vandalism?
While this question is a very fine line in cities, I find it clear here. It is of course not vandalism, at least in my eyes. If these paintings do anything at all, then bring more color into play despite everything.
Yes, these graffitis are anything but beautiful, not to mention art. But if you take a closer look and go into the building you will find one or the other small work of art. Some styles also seemed familiar to me. :)
What I find much worse than bad graffiti are people who just dump their rubbish here. Or worse, use this place as a toilet.
Apart from the human feces and the rubbish that is disposed of here, I actually find this building to be art.
So did we find vandalism here? No, at least not in the form of paint on walls.
