Crossing Into Norway

My hiking tour through Sweden lasted 10 days and now I am crossing into Norway and into civilization once again

The tour was truly breathtaking, taking me through wetlands, small forests with moss and lichen covered ground, on top of hills and glaciers and the ice cold rivers that originated from them. I have one last shot from this area before the trail takes me back into a valley with a small town which should mark the end of the hiking trail.

The landscape still looks very barren here; but this would soon change making room for some coniferous and birch trees. They don't grow very big here as the weather is too cold to support a long growing season.

This area stuck in my mind in particular as the many small birch trees left a very individual mark on this landscape. It felt like another world as I had not seen such a display before, but then again, coming from the city everything looked just awe inspiring. Although don't get me wrong, a hiking trip like this is not an easy undertaking. I was very much exhausted after the nearly 200km I had walked with a backpack of about 15kg. If you have ever been on a similar trip you were probably looking forward to a shower and a hotel room as much as me ;)

The first signs of civilization!

One more lake before...

After camping for a day in this small town which was still in Sweden, I would head to Norway the next day by train. The first stop would be Trondheim which is the first bigger city that lies on the train tracks taking me all the way back to Oslo.

Trondheim is a beautiful town lying on the coastline and fjords in the middle of Norway. I'll leave you with some impressions here...

The weather was indeed sunny again which made for a great stay here in the north where it normally is rather rainy or snowy. There is a lot to explorer so if you decide to come here you should plan at least 2 days for staying. Of course nature (both on water and on land) is probably even the bigger attraction around here.
