Travel and Discover! Trnava is a small Rome in Slovakia. Traditional fair, carousels and trdelniki. The Pope visits Slovakia.

My warm greetings to you, my friends. I invite you to Little Rome. You will probably think that I am already in Italy. But no. I am still in Slovakia. I invite you to Little Slovak Rome. This is the name of the small town of Trnava in the Slovak Republic. By the way, the name "Trnava" means "Holy Saturday". This city is extremely cozy, quiet and beautiful. That's where we're going today. After all, today there is a traditional Trnava Fair.

This year the preparations for this fair were very intense. This is all due to the epidemiological situation in the country, which is related to Kovid-19. Not all traders were allowed to bid. But despite the difficulties, the holiday still took place. And tomorrow the Pope will arrive in Slovakia in Bratislava. So, if you want to see it, you will still have time for the plane. And if you are already in Slovakia, do not forget that most roads in Bratislava will be blocked tomorrow.

Trnava Fair is not just a holiday. Once upon a time, King Belo IV himself granted the right to all traders, honeybearers, wire-carvers, carvers, blacksmiths, and sculptors to hold traditions in ancient markets. This tradition exists to this day. It is very valuable and important for all residents of Trnava (and not only) and the development of the city itself.

For several days in a row, the pedestrian zone of the city is bustling with life and fun. There are no masters here: blacksmiths, carvers and potters. And many, many others who bring joy to people in their works. The fair has everything your soul desires: jewelry, paintings, handmade soap, dolls, clay products and utensils, toys. My eyes widened today. On the other side of the fair was food. Beer, wine, tinctures, Slovak, Czech and Hungarian national food were mainly sold here.

And most of all I liked trdelniki. This is an extremely fragrant bun. And it's not just a bun. Trdelnik (or Trdlo) are well-known Czech buns made of butter dough. Before baking, the dough is wound in a spiral on a special tube, and then baked. After baking, the bun is sprinkled with everything you want: cinnamon, chocolate, nuts, sugar. It is the most delicious in hot form. Taste it somehow, you won't regret it. I have never seen such in Ukraine before, and in Slovakia it can usually be bought near shopping malls.

An integral part of the fair is a park with carousels. Here for all visitors, and especially for the little ones, a real fairy tale. They can ride a swing, eat delicious ice cream and buy the best balloon. There is also entertainment for adults. Especially fun at the racetrack. And at night all the swings twinkle with colorful lanterns.

At the fair, we got a little hungry and decided to go to the "Kebab House". If you are ever in Trnava, be sure to try kebabs here. When I lived in Ukraine, I never liked such food there, because they usually cooked badly and in unsanitary conditions. In Slovakia, Kebab is now a heavenly pleasure for me. And I advise you to try Hungarian langoustines. They are very tasty.

I can talk a lot and for a long time about Slovakia, about life and culture here. What I will do in my future publications. And you must come here. You have to see everything with your own eyes. Be sure to travel. Get to know the world. Our planet is very beautiful. And don't forget to visit the annual traditional Trnava Fair. I kiss you, hug you and wish you inspiration and health.
