Street Art in Ljubljana

Yesterday I showed you a little bit of Slovenian capital and today it’s time for some more photos from that beautiful city.

Boat tour is a great way to observe Ljubljana’s old centre and its bridges. First one is the Dragon Bridge, which is my favourite.

There are four identical green dragons guarding each corner of the bridge, which is still utilized for traffic.

If you’re a fan of dragon art you’ll love this place.

A little further down from the Dragon Bridge there is the Butchers’ Bridge.

The original idea for a bridge on the site was expressed in the 1930s by the architect Jože Plečnik. The modern bridge, which is far more simple than the original plan, features a staircase at its left entry, a glass walking belts at the sides, and two fences with steel wires and wide top shelves. It was designed by Jurij Kobe. It is decorated with works by the sculptor Jakov Brdar.

The statues on the Bitchers’ Bridge are pretty grotesque but eye catching. A bit unique and probably not for everyone’s taste.

Then there are some nicer pieces which you can almost miss if you don’t pay attention.

I really liked this one below:

This kind of art is what I miss in the city I currently live in. Yes there are a lot of murals and statues but then again many are being taken down because some people are offended by them.

I hope you liked this little showcase of Ljubljana’s street art. 😊
