Hello everyone!
Today I took a little trip to a small town near where I live called Riolo Terme, in the Emilia-Romagna region (Italy). It is a very nice place and it made me reflect on the fact that we often have beauties right under our noses and we don't notice them!
The town is famous mainly for its thermal springs, to which you can go both for a simple holiday and for wellness and health treatments.
The spa is located in a beautiful natural setting and flanked by the gentle hills of Emilia-Romagna. During the walk I found numerous people, some accompanied by doctors or family members, and others simply relaxing.
The thermal baths of Riolo contain precious waters considered medical called Vittoria, Breta, Salsoiodica and Margherita. In addition, the park also offers wellness treatments with Bergullo spring mud, the only one in the entire Emilia-Romagna region and with important properties for dermocosmesis.
This little corner of paradise is very popular with both people living in the region and foreigners. In fact, walking through the streets you notice the presence of some hotels and you hear English and German spoken!
The main attraction of the historic center of Riolo Terme is the Rocca Sforzesca, a stronghold built in the fourteenth century which is wonderfully preserved to this day, entirely accessible and it houses a museum inside.
The Rocca Sforzesca is unique in its kind because it is a grandiose example of a fortification that has architectural features from both the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In fact, over the decades the building structure has been enlarged, modified and adapted to the innovation of fire artillery.
The Rocca Sforzesca museum is divided into several floors and we can find information on the armory used in battle and on the functioning of war machines. In addition, there are paths that allow you to learn the construction techniques used in the Middle Ages! Among the various rooms of the museum, there are also those dedicated to the archaeological section with finds from the Iron Age to Roman times.

Oggi ho fatto una piccola gita in un paesino vicino a dove vivo chiamato Riolo Terme, nella regione Emilia-Romagna (Italia). È un posto molto grazioso e mi ha fatto riflettere sul fatto che spesso abbiamo delle bellezze proprio sotto al nostro naso e non ce ne accorgiamo!
Il paesino è famoso principalmente per le sorgenti termali, alle quali ci si può recare sia in semplice villeggiatura, sia per dei trattamenti di benessere e cura.
Le terme si trovano in un bellissimo contesto naturalistico e fiancheggiate dai dolci colli dell’Emilia-Romagna. Nel corso della passeggiata ho trovato numerose persone, alcune affiancate da medici o familiari in visita, e altri in semplice relax.
Le terme di Riolo contengono delle preziose acque considerate medicali chiamate Vittoria, Breta, Salsoiodica e Margherita. Inoltre, il parco propone anche dei trattamenti di benessere con il fango sorgivo di Bergullo, l’unico di tutta la regione Emilia-Romagna e con importanti proprietà per la dermocosmesi.
Questo piccolo angolo di paradiso è molto apprezzato sia dalle persone che vivono nella regione, sia dagli stranieri. Infatti, passeggiando per le vie si nota la presenza di qualche hotel e si sente parlare inglese e tedesco!
La principale attrazione del centro storico di Riolo Terme è la Rocca Sforzesca, una roccaforte edificata nel XIV secolo che è conservata meravigliosamente fino ai giorni nostri, interamente percorribile e al suo interno ospita un museo visitabile.
La Rocca Sforzesca è unica nel suo genere perché è un esempio grandioso di fortificazione che presenta caratteristiche architettoniche sia del medioevo che del rinascimento. Infatti, nel corso dei decenni la struttura dell’edificio è stata ampliata, modificata e adattata all’innovazione dell’artiglieria da fuoco.
Il museo della Rocca Sforzesca è suddiviso in diversi piani e possiamo trovare informazioni sull’armeria utilizzata in battaglia e sul funzionamento delle macchine da guerra. Inoltre, sono presenti dei percorsi che consentono di apprendere le tecniche costruttive usate nel medioevo! Tra le varie stanze del museo, ci sono anche quelle dedicate alla sezione archeologica con reperti dall’età del ferro all’epoca romana.
