An evening on Stanage Edge in the Derbyshire Peak District

For years people would talk about Stanage Edge in the Peak District and I would have no clue as to where it was. I finally worked it out and arranged with a bunch of ne'er do well colleagues to go visit the place at dusk with the aim of doing a spot of lightpainting at night.

A stone in my shoe

I was stood at the top of Stanage Edge at sunset hoping someone would conveniently pose for my shot then this couple climbed up and even more conveniently there was something lodged in the lady's shoe. This was literally straight out of camera apart from the dust removal on my sensor...

Stanage by drone light

A friend, Tei Pelant, from the Netherlands was over in the UK working on a building site in Manchester. He brought along his drone kitted out with Lume Cubes. Tei very kindly flew his drone over this scene despite it being I remember a little windy...

Stood on the Edge

Despite being very cold up on Stanage Edge, I managed to persuade this unsuspecting friendly photographer to pose in exactly the right spot to create the sense of scale and give the shot a human element. Thanks friend whoever you are!

Mill stones under the stars

I don't mind admitting this took a long time to process in Photoshop chasing a needle in a haystack trying to clone out all the bloomin' plane trails. The lighting on the stones was a combination of moonlight and waving a small LED panel across the scene.

Tei on the Edge

From a rare occasion up on Stanage Edge where it wasn't blowing a howling gale; the air was still and we even had a spot of mist roll in.
