Many times I like to take out my camera to photograph some butterflies that come to my garden, but it is inevitable to find many other fascinating insects that also seek the nectar of flowers. In this case, I was lucky enough to photograph this beautiful yellow-bellied bumblebee. He had already observed it on other occasions, and it was normal to see him for much of the morning walking through the flowers in the garden. So I started researching their habits.
Bumblebees belong to the same family as bees, basically they are very large bees that measure up to 20 mm on average. They usually have their nests on the ground and unlike bees, they have smaller numbers of individuals in each nest.
Bumblebees can wander up to two kilometers from the nest, regularly visiting the same sites every day until the nectar of the flowers is depleted. This is the reason for seeing her all morning in the garden. They are also fast and can reach speeds of up to 54 km per hour.
Simply fascinating, I already look forward to the next flowering to make new images of this incredible insect.

Muchas veces me gusta sacar mi cámara para fotografiar algunas mariposas que llegan a mi jardín, pero es inevitable encontrar a muchos otros insectos fascinantes que buscan también el néctar de las flores. En este caso tuve la suerte de fotografiar este hermoso abejorro de abdomen amarillo. Ya lo había observado en otras ocasiones, y era normal verlo durante buena parte de la mañana recorriendo las flores del jardín. Por eso me puse a investigar sobre sus hábitos.
Los abejorros pertenecen a la misma familia de las abejas, básicamente son abejas muy grandes que llegan a medir en promedio hasta 20 mm. Suelen tener sus nidos en el piso y a diferencia de las abejas, tienen cantidades más reducidas de individuos en cada nido.
Los abejorros pueden alejarse hasta dos kilómetros del nido, visitando regularmente los mismos sitios todos los días hasta que se agote el néctar de las flores. Esta es la razón de verla tosas la mañanas en el jardín. Además son rápidas y pueden alcanzar velocidades de hasta 54 km por hora.
Simplemente fascinantes, ya espero con ansias la próxima floración para hacer nuevas imágenes de este increíble insecto.
