Today I have Num Kom, a traditional Khmer dessert that everyone in Cambodian enjoys.
This is my recipe to show everyone.
Num Kom Recipe
Ingredients
- 200 grams yellow lentils
- 450 grams glutinous rice flour
- 100 grams pumpkin
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup brown sugar or to taste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups water

Step 1Put lentils in the water 2 hours and clean it, then steam it with pumpkin until soft.! | |

Step 2After mash it a little. | |
Step 3Heat pan put a little water and brown sugar stir it until brown. | |
Step 4Then put coconut meat and salt 1/2 tsp fry it very well. | |
Step 5Then put lentils fry it very well. | |
Step 6Itβs ready. | |
Step 7After make it like ball. | |
Step 8Mash pumpkin very well and take glutinous rice flour 50% put 1/4 tsp salt mixed together and put water do it very well. | |
Step 9Then take glutinous rice flour 50% put salt 1/4 tsp mixed together put water do it very well. | |
Step 10After looks like this. |
Put oil little bit on banana leaves.
1 - Make a ball. | 2 - Close it like ball. |

3 - Put it in banana leaves. | 4 - Close like triangle. |
5 - Fold Again | 6 - Fold the other side. |
7 - Fold last side triangle. | 8 - Do all like this. |
When make it already, steam it 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes steaming they finish.
In Cambodia, we put sesame seed inside also, but Suriname don't have sesame seed anymore because problems here.
