Things become obsolete. What worked in the past does not work anymore. You need to adapt and learn new things. But you should express yourself honestly.
If you say something that you do not believe, people will know that sooner or later. Some people do things that they don't think will work. They do that to grab people's attention or get financial gain. Never compromise honesty No matter how worse the situation is, honesty always comes first.
