Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. The status of the locally tapped palm wine in villages have now risen to be a popular wine in the city at events and parties, consumed by old and young folks. Truth be told, your event may not be complete or be given a pass mark if you do not have calabash or kegs of palm wine in "attendance". Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

The tasty, but fairly intoxicating drink is now a must-have at traditional events in Nigeria. It often contest with the sophisticated modern drinks out there and the reason for this is not far-fetched. It is mainly because of its natural feel, especially if it has not been diluted.

The palm wine drink is called emu in Yorùbá dialect of Nigeria.

The freshly tapped palm wine is very sweet and has no alcoholic content but after a while it gets fermented and now have alcoholic content. At the unfermented stage, you can gulp as many cups as possible without getting tipsy. It is served chilled in event and relaxation centers.

Consumers of palm wine need to be careful where they drink or who they buy from because some vendors use preservatives and sweeteners among others to alter the taste, color of the drink.

Palm wine also have its negative effects if it's consumed excessively, just like every other drink or product. So, it is advisable to drink moderately. Some people consume lot of palm wine for reasons that it is medicinal. This doesn't give the liberty to drink too much of it.
