OLD TRADITIONS AND PANCAKES

Now we've a week of "tasty" holidays called Maslenitsa.

Maslenitsa is an ancient pagan holiday. It is believed that Maslenitsa was originally associated with the day of the spring solstice, but with the adoption of Christianity it began to precede Lent and depend on its timing. In Rus', it has long been customary to celebrate the change of seasons.

Our ancestors ate a lot of pancakes this week, burn a straw effigy, dance and dance in circles, glorify the Red Spring so that it can win the battle with winter as quickly as possible.

Centuries have passed, but people do not forget about Maslenitsa and celebrate it though not so much like itn was before.

Most people keep traditions and celebrate this week making.....pancakes!;)

This Slavic holiday has symbolized the beginning of spring since pagan times. People believed that beautiful and tasty pancakes would help appease the sun, which would warm the earth and give a rich harvest.

It was believed that the more pancakes the housewife bakes, the richer the whole year will be.

So it's a pancake week now.

This time I decided to make not a traditional recipe but a new one.

  • some pumpkin
  • a banana
  • a plant milk
  • whole-wheat flour
  • 0,5 tb.sp. baking soda + some drops of lemon juice

proportion is near 1:1 (flour to milk)

A sweet and tasty vegan pancakes were great!
We can add some jam or honey - mmmm, my son's favourite dessert to tea;)
