Once upon a time, after the completion of 110 sacrifices of King Bali, he was becoming more powerful. King Bali had taken possession of the earth world and the devloke world, due to which all the gods went to Lord Vishnu and started asking Lord Vishnu for help.
Hearing this, Lord Vishnu promised to protect him and came to earth in Vamana avatar and went to King Bali disguised as a Brahmin.
King Bali was the best in giving donations, due to which Lord Vishnu in his Vamana avatar asks King Bali for three steps of land.
The king sacrifices yes because he was the best in giving charity.
In the first step, in the Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu, he measures the earth, in the second step he measures the Devlok.
For the third step, it is said that King Bali does not understand anything, he puts his head forward and keeps the third step on his head.
Due to which King Bali gets absorbed in the land and he is made the ruler of that place that I will be your gatekeeper.
Due to which Mata Lakshmi, who was the wife of Lord Vishnu, reaches King Bali by giving a protective thread and ties the protection thread on King Bali's wrist and calls King Bali as her brother.
The king talks about taking Lord Vishnu from Bhuloka to Devlok as a gift from Bali and Bali frees Lord Vishnu from his word.

आज का दिन रक्षाबंधन का पर्व है जिसे भारतवर्ष में भाई बहन का त्योहार कहा जाता है ।
आज मैं आपको रक्षाबंधन के इतिहास के बारे में बताना चाहूंगा कुछ प्रचलित कथाएं हैं कि रक्षाबंधन क्यों मनाया जाता है ।
एक समय की बात है जब राजा बलि के 110 यज्ञ पूर्ण होने के बाद व शक्तिशाली होता जा रहा था। राजा बलि ने पृथ्वी लोक और देवता लोक में अपना अधिकार कर लिया था जिस कारण सभी देवता भगवान विष्णु के पास गए और भगवान विष्णु से सहायता के लिए कहने लगे।
जिसे सुनकर भगवान विष्णु ने उन्हें उनकी रक्षा करने का वचन दिया और वामन अवतार लेकर पृथ्वी पर आए और राजा बलि के पास ब्राह्मण का वेश धारण करके गए।
राजा बलि दान देने में सर्वश्रेष्ठ था जिस कारण भगवान विष्णु अपने वामन अवतार में राजा बलि से तीन पग जमीन मांगते हैं।
राजा बलि हां कर देता है क्योंकि वह दान देने में सर्वश्रेष्ठ था।
पहले पग में भगवान विष्णु के वामन अवतार में पृथ्वी को नाप लेते हैं दूसरे पग में देवलोक को नाप लेते हैं।
तीसरा पग के लिये कहते हैं राजा बलि को कुछ समझ नहीं आता वह अपना सर आगे करता है और अपने सर पर तीसरा पग रखता है।
जिस कारण राजा बलि भूलोक में समा जाते हैं और उनको वहीं का शासक बना दिया जाता है राजा बलि भगवान विष्णु से एक प्रार्थना करते हैं कि आप हमेशा मेरी रक्षा के लिये मेरे साथ रहेगे और मेरे द्वारपाल बनकर रहेंगे भगवान विष्णु उनको यह आश्वासन दे देते हैं कि मैं तुम्हारा द्वारपाल बन कर रहूंगा।
जिस कारण माता लक्ष्मी जो कि भगवान विष्णु की पत्नी थी वह रक्षा सूत्र देकर राजा बलि के पास पहुंचती है और राजा बलि के कलाई पर रक्षा सूत्र बांधती है और राजा बलि को अपना भाई कहकर पुकारती है।
राजा बलि से उपहार के तौर पर भगवान विष्णु को भूलोक से देवलोक में ले जाने की बात करती है और बलि भगवान विष्णु को अपने वचन से मुक्त कर देते हैं।
