Good day everyone,

Today I would be talking about where yoruba originated from.

The origin of yoruba started in the ancient A.D when their ancient father Oduduwa migrated from Mecca,Saudi Arabia to Ile-ife,am ancient town in Nigeria. Oduduwa's father and his other relatives were muslims but he was an idol worshipper,so the muslims waged a war against him and revolted him in order to save himself he decided to fled from Mecca to Ile-ife.

The area of Ile-ife was originally populated by the Igbo people of Nigeria, but when Oduduwa got to Ile-ife ,he chased the original inhabitants to the east ,he took over the area and became the first paramount ruler of Ile-ife which signifies the start to yoruba dynasty and empire.

Oduduwa gave birth to only one child,Okanbi who then later gave birth to 7 children who later became kings in different yoruba regions(first 2 were females Olowu of Owu and Alaketu of Ketu) while the remaining 5 were males Alaafin of Oyo,Orangun of Ila,Oba of Benin,Olupopo of Popo and Onisabe of Sabe.

The yoruba race begins to grow through the expansion of oduduwa's grandson and granddaughters when they formed different places and languages in some parts of the country.
