Yesterday, I made a Khmer dessert for my two daughters. They asked me to make it a long time ago but I do not have to make it for them. I have the good palm sugar from my mother hometown. There are so many palm trees and the some people still making palm sugar like the past.
This dessert easy to find in the all markets but in my area we need to make it if we want to eat it. I wanted to share this recipe with you all too. Itβs easy to make eat and itβs simple ingredients we almost have at home.
π©βπ³Palm Sugar Glutinous Rice Balls(Ital) Vegan Recipe πͺ

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups of glutinous rice
- 1 1/2 cups of pandan leaves water or looks
- 1/2 tsp salt
- palm sugar as we like
- coconut meat as we like
For pandan leaves if you want to make it very green, you can put more pandan leaves when you grind it with water. For this recipe I grind five leaves because I donβt have much, so itβs not so much green as you can see and my pandan leaves are small too.
Put glutinous rice in a big bowl, add salt and pour pandan water and stir it together with our hand and make it well like a dough. Then scrape the coconut.
After boiling water and took a small dough and made it like roti and put palm sugar and close it and make it like a ball and put it in the hot water.
Itβs easy to know itβs cooked or not. If you see them floating up, that means they are cooked and we take them out and put them in cold water.
After we can took it from the cold water and put it in the plate and add coconut meat on the top. Itβs ready!
