Welcome to my blog again. I am so glad that you are here. Today i would like to share the recipe of veg masala khichdi.

Masala khichdi is a famous Indian food which is light, healthy, tasty and easy to make. Khichdi is made by rice, lentils , vegetables and some spices. By using these things and some simple techniques you can cook delicious khichdi. This is an ultimate comfort food for Indians.

You can enjoyed it as a dinner. Even this is best food for dieting . You can enjoy it on normal days or can enjoy when you feel sick and want to have som light food. Every house has a different story and recipe with this khichdi, today i would like to share the recipe from my home 😀.

Ingredients ✅

  • Rice 1/2 cup
  • Moong daal (spilt green gram/lentil) 1/2 cup
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Hing one pinch
  • Onion 1 chopped
  • Tomato 1 chopped
  • Potato (optional) 1 chooped
  • Carrot 1 chopped (small)
  • Green peas
  • Green chilli 2 chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  • Spinach leaves

process to make the khichdi ✅

Step 1:

First take the rice and lentils, mix them and wash it well. Now soak it for 20 minutes. Till you can cut your veggies.

Step 2 :

Now collect all veggies and cut them one by one. Wash all vaggies well before chopping.

Step 3 :

Now take a cooker and add 2 tbsp oil in it.

When the oil get hot add cumin seeds, carom seeds and hing in it.

When seeds start to crackle add chopped onion in it.

Saute the onion for 1 minute on the low to medium flame and add potato in it.

Cook for 30 sec and add all veggies in it.

Mix the Veggies well. Now add all spices in it.

Again give it a good mixture and add 4 bowl water in it.

Cover the lid of the cooker and cook till the one whistle.

Till you can capture selfie 😜.

After one whistle turn off the flame and open the lid aftet 5-10 minutes.

You will see all veggies are on the top and looks so delicious.

Now mix it well and enjoyed with pickle or papad.

Pro tip:

  • Always add 4 times more water of rice+lentils and cook till one whistle.

You can make it in the pan but it take time, so it is the best to cook in the pressure cooker .
