Dessert Colorfull Selendang Mayang (Traditional Indonesian Food)

"Selendang Mayang” is Indonesian traditional food, made from hunkwee flour and rice flour, then colored with red and green. so yummy 😋

When I was child, I really liked this food “Selendang Mayang”. Food is made from hunkwee flour and rice flour, then colored with red and green. I used to enjoy it when I was little with ice, but because in Taiwan it was the rainy season, so the weather was still a bit cold when enjoying it while it was still warm.

The materials needed are:

• 50 grams of hunkwee flour
• 25 grams of rice flour
• 650 coconut milk
• 25 grams of palm sugar
• 1 teaspoons salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 pieces pandan leave
• 1 teaspoon green coloring (pandan)
• 1 teaspoon red coloring (strawberry)

Step 1: Mix Hunkwee flour, rice flour, coconut milk

Step 2: Cook them and make it dough

Step 3: Spread in three bowl, and coloring with red, green and white



How to make Selendang Mayang?

• Mix hunkwee flour and rice flour, add a little salt, vanilla and pandan leaves.
• Add water little by little, then cook with small water until cooked
• Separate the dough into three parts
• Buy Red, green, white (no color required)
• Prepare a baking sheet that has been lined with plastic, so it doesn't stick.
• Pour three layered dough colors
• Steam up to 20 minutes
• Remove and refrigerate later to cut

How to make liquid coconut milk and sugar

• Boil coconut milk, add salt, vanilla and pandan knot to make it fragrant
• Boil Palm sugar with water, add pandan leaves and vanilla to make it fragrant

Serving method

• Cut the Selendang Mayang
• Put in a serving bowl
• Add coconut milk and liquid sugar
• The shawl Mayang dessert is ready to be served

Taraaa!!! Selendang Mayang can served alreday😋



This dessert can be enjoyed warm or cold. Because I don't really like sweet, so I reduce the palm sugar that I use. Even though it's not perfect, I'm happy to be able to taste the food I loved as a child by making it myself ♥️
