¡Sí puedo!

Yes I can!

Absolute Commitment is a book that describes the great love and commitment of a father for his son, based on a true story, as real as life itself.

Dick Hoyt is an ordinary man, born into a large, hard-working, low-income family. From a young age he has had numerous battles which, with hard work, he managed to overcome.

Full of health, strength and a passion for sports, he decided to build his life with his wife Judy Hoyt, his dream was to have a healthy, athletic, sporty and of course a large family.

Dick Hoyt

But destiny gives great battles to great people, we are not weak because of the things that happen to us or the obstacles or battles; on the contrary, we are strong and we can do more than we think.

That is why this book Absolute Commitment or also called Team Hoyt, is so valuable to me, Dick Hoyt has a beautiful phrase so important for life, that I have always carried it in my mind. It says:

At 99% opportunity, effort and commitment, it equals 100% failure.

Dick Hoyt

What this means is that if you do not give 100% in everything you do, in everything you give, you will simply fail a thousand times over. Everything we give, everything we receive, must be 100%, I am not talking about perfection, but about giving.

Dick Hoyt had his first son, it was a huge joy, he tells how healthy and energetic he saw him the first time, he thought his push-ups were of a strong baby, that he was a baby he already knew he was going to be athletic, a soccer player or very sporty, but in reality it was muscle spasms.

His first son Rick Hoyt, was his first love, his first commitment. At 8 months Dick and his wife Judy, got to know the diagnosis of Rick, cerebral palsy.

From that day on, a great adventure begins, full of effort, commitment and a destiny full of great goals. Absolute Commitment helps us to fight without stopping, demonstrates the great love that a child with a disability can bring to a home.

The most amazing thing about this wonderful story is that Dick and his son Rick never gave up, the fact of having a son with a disability did not mean that he was not an athlete, that he did not participate in marathons, triathlons, and numerous sporting activities.

Well, Dick managed to graduate, to be independent, he was able to write his own thoughts, what he felt, what he wanted to express, using special machines, because his father never gave up and they were always looking for innovations to help the disabled to have a better quality of life.

Dick's dedication, love for his son and the fact of not leaving him alone, even when several doctors suggested him to leave him in homes for the disabled, and even advised him to forget about him (Rick) and to continue his life, having more children, they were a young and healthy couple to assume with that burden, or as some told him, to assume with that human vegetable 😭💔, was what gave courage and strength to both Dick and his son Rick.

I admire parents all over the world for the great courage, effort and commitment that they lovingly give their all for their children, especially for their children with disabilities.

Dick tells how Rick, his son, spoke to him through his eyes, it was as if he was telling him everything he thought just by looking into his eyes. There is no greater satisfaction for Dick than to read the letter that Rick managed to write to him using special machines.

One of the words written in the letter to his father Dick, read as follows:

...I have a list of things I would do for you if I didn't have a disability. First on the list: I would do everything I could to run the Iron Man world championship by pulling, pedaling and pushing you. Then I would push you in the Boston Marathon. And I'd like to take care of you when you're too old to take care of yourself. Not because I have to, but because I want to...

Dick carried his son in his arms, ran with him in many races, adapted wheelchairs, bicycles and others, just to be able to carry his son Rick with him. Plus many more things that I have not been able to mention, because I don't have them all in mind right now.

Many accomplishments, victories, teachings, through this beautiful story, filled with a love of father and son, mother and son, and so many yes I can! that don't let you fall.

... Gracias, muchas gracias @elizabeths14 @josuemonterola ❤️

I want to thank and take advantage of this space to dedicate these words to some wonderful parents that I love and appreciate very much:

For their constancy, their countless efforts, because reading this book, has made me understand their feelings, emotions, situations they have gone through, those battles they fight alone every day. For the times that even tired, exhausted, they double their strength to carry her, to pamper her, to enter her world and be with her every day of her life.

For accepting her and loving her with all that she means, is and is worth, for sharing their love with their siblings, for not making differences, for the care and time they take so that everyone is happy and cared for.

For being a great example for me, for showing that it is possible, for not giving up despite the many desires to throw in the towel, for not feeling guilty for that feeling, for getting up and continue in this wonderful adventure with my beloved Amelie...

... Thank you, thank you so much @elizabeths14 @josuemonterola ❤️
