Hello to everyone! I hope you are in good spirits and continue to read the book. After my post last week, I had some uncertainty. As you know, I reviewed a book series and last week I shared the review of the last book of the series with you. After the end of this series, I was both a little tired and a little sad.
I usually make a list of my books to read and I read my books in the order in this list. While I was reviewing the Harry Potter series, I suddenly realized that I didn't care about the list and went out of my own reading order. I am usually someone who is obsessed with order. I usually think the night before what I'm going to do the next day. This obsession sometimes makes my job easier, and sometimes it leads to terrible things. Anyway, no need to talk about this piece.
Today I will share with you the review of the book, which has been at the top of my reading list for a long time. I think this is the first book I will share from Turkish Literature. One of the best-known books of Ayşe Kulin, a master writer whom I love and whose style I admire very much. The name of the book is "Sevdalinka". "Sevdalinka" is a Bosnian word meaning love songs.
The book is a novel about the difficulties experienced by Bosnians in general. In fact, it is perhaps wrong to explain it in such a simple way. But I don't want to give too many spoilers. I have to admit that the title of the book made me mislead. I actually thought this book was a very passionate love story. When I bought this book, I thought I would like it very much. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It was actually a very good book. But my purpose and expectations for reading the book were different. I guess I didn't do much research before buying the book. Therefore, the book did not meet my expectations. This was my fault. Let's examine the contents of the book without further ado!
Sevdalinka
I think there is only one main character in the book. That's Nimeta. Actually, Stefan is another main character. But the story generally revolves around Nimeta. I think this is my first negative review of the book. I wish Stefan was happy. He's a really good man.
Nimeta is a Bosnian journalist. She is married and has two children. They also have a cat named Bozo at home. Actually, they are a family of 4, but sometimes Nimeta's mother is their guest. Unfortunately, we can't say that Nimeta has a very happy marriage. Because Nimeta is cheating on her husband Burhan. The person she cheated on is Stefan Stefanovic, a Croatian journalist by the same profession as Nimeta. Actually, Nimeta and Burhan have a problem-free marriage. They don't fight and Burhan is a loving man.
However, over the years, the feeling called passion in this marriage was exhausted. Nimeta had found what she was looking for in another man. Still, she never left her husband and family and she never went with Stefan. -I really have a hard time writing an unbiased review.- I think Nimeta is a stupid and selfish woman.-
Over time, the war broke out and Nimeta continued to work as she was a journalist. She actually went to work every day, risking her life. Because the war had put her country in a difficult situation economically and her husband Burhan was about to lose him job. Nimeta had to work to care for her family. But since the Croats went to war before the Bosnians, her mind was always on Stefan. Everything was much more difficult for Nimeta now, and the war would shock her in the most unexpected way when she least expected it.
After this point, I will express a little personal opinion and end my review. The conflict between Serbs and Bosniaks has always continued throughout history. In the book, we observe how the Croats and then the Bosniaks were drawn into the war over time. Particularly, the gradual compelling of Bosnia to war was well described. People's moments of panic, deaths and struggles for survival were wonderfully portrayed. Admittedly, Ayşe Kulin did a great job in this book. In particular, I can say that I was swept away by the reality of what she said. The fact that she had such an effective writing ability also left some negative effects on me.
The most important of these negative effects is Nimeta, the main character of the book. Nimeta falls in love with someone else and cheats on her husband. However, she does not leave her husband and family to be selfish. She thinks she's responsible for her family, she. If she's going to do this, she should break up with her boyfriend. However, Nimeta also continues her relationship with her lover. That's why I think Nimeta is a selfish woman. She does injustice to both parties in order not to be selfish from her point of view. I think she did this to ease her own conscience, she. Which makes me think she's selfish. She also gives up on Stefan every chance she gets. But when she has problems, she reaches Stefan first. I think Stefan has been treated very unfairly. This was quite disturbing for me. I couldn't stay calm while reading these lines. Stefan knows that Nimeta is married. That's why he's willing to risk all this to live. But he still has a belief that Nimeta might prefer him. Because Nimeta kept him busy for about 3 years. She promised to tell her husband about the situation at every opportunity, but she never kept her promise. Actually, Nimeta wasn't trying to make Stefan suffer. But Nimeta was not a strong enough character to deal with all this. That's why I would like to read a stronger and more determined character. It was frustrating to have a character experiencing such dilemmas in such a beautiful book.

Genellikle okumak için kitaplarımdan bir liste oluştururum ve bu listedeki sıralamaya göre kitaplarımı okurum. Harry Potter serisini incelerken birden listeyi umursamadığımı farkettim ve kendi okuma düzenimin dışına çıktım. Genellikle düzen takıntısı olan biriyimdir. Bugün sizlerle uzun zamandır okuma listemin ilk sırasında yer alan kitabın incelemesini paylaşacağım. Sanırım bu Türk Edebiyatı'ndan paylaşacağım ilk kitap. Sevdiğim ve tarzını çok beğendiğim usta bir yazar olan Ayşe Kulin'in en bilinen kitaplarından biri. Kitabın ismi "Sevdalinka" . "Sevdalinka" aşk şarkıları anlamına gelen Boşnakça bir kelime.
Kitap genel olarak Bosnalıların yaşadığı zorlukların anlatıldığı bir roman. Aslında bu kadar basit bir şekilde anlatmak belki de yanlış. Ama çok fazla spoiler vermek istemiyorum. İtiraf etmeliyim ki kitabın ismi aldanmamı sağladı. Aslında bu kitabın çok tutkulu bir aşk kitabı olduğunu düşünmüştüm. Bu kitabı satın alırken de çok beğeneceğimi düşünüyordum. Ne yazık ki pek böyle olmadı. Aslında son derece güzel bir kitaptı. Ama benim kitabı okuma amacım ve beklentilerim daha farklıydı. Sanırım kitabı satın almadan önce pek fazla araştırma yapmadım. Bu yüzden de kitap beklentimi karşılamadı. Bu benim hatamdı. Hadi konuyu daha fazla dağıtmadan bir de kitabın içeriğini inceleyelim!

Kitapta tek bir başrol karakter olduğunu düşünüyorum. O da Nimeta. Aslında Stefan da bir diğer baş karakter. Ama hikaye genel olarak Nimeta'nın etrafında dönüyor. Sanırım kitap ile ilgili ilk olumsuz eleştirim bu. Stefan'ın mutlu olmasını isterdim. Gerçekten iyi bir adam.
Nimeta,Bosnalı bir gazetecidir. Evli ve iki çocuk annesidir. Ayrıca evlerinde bir de Bozo isimli kedileri var. Aslında 4 kişilik bir aileler ama bazen Nimeta'nın annesi de onlara misafir oluyor. Ne yazık ki Nimeta'nın pek mutlu bir evliliğe sahip olduğunu söyleyemeyiz. Çünkü Nimeta kocası Burhan'ı aldatıyor. Aldattığı kişi ise Nimeta ile aynı meslekten Hırvat bir gazeteci olan Stefan Stefanoviç. Aslında Nimeta ve Burhan sorunsuz bir evliliğe sahip. Kavga etmezler ve Burhan sevecen bir adam.
Ancak yıllar içinde bu evlilikte de tutku denilen duygu tükenmişti. Nimeta ise aradığı şeyi başka bir adamda bulmuştu. Yine de kocası ve ailesini bırakıp hiçbir zaman Stefan ile birlikte gitmedi. -Gerçekten tarafsız bir inceleme yazısı yazmakta zorlanıyorum.- Nimeta'nın aptal ve bencil bir kadın olduğunu düşünüyorum.-
Zamanla savaş başladı ve Nimeta bir gazeteci olduğu için çalışmaya devam etti. Gerçekten canını tehlikeye atarak her gün işe gitti. Çünkü savaş ülkesini ekonomik olarak zor bir duruma sokmuştu ve eşi Burhan işini kaybetmek üzereydi. Nimeta ailesine bakmak için çalışmak zorundaydı. Ama Bosnalılardan önce Hırvatlar savaşa girdiği için de aklı hep Stefan'daydı. Artık Nimeta için her şey çok daha zordu ve savaş onu en beklemediği anda en beklemediği şekilde şoka sokacaktı.
Bu noktadan sonra biraz kişisel görüş belirteceğim ve inceleme yazıma son vereceğim. Sırplar ve Boşnaklar arasındaki çekişme tarih boyunca her zaman devam etti. Kitapta ise önce Hırvatların daha sonra ise Boşnakların zamanla savaşa nasıl çekildiklerini gözlemliyoruz. Özellikle Bosna'nın savaşa yavaş yavaş mecbur bırakılması çok iyi betimlenmişti. İnsanların panik anları, ölümler ve hayatta kalma mücadeleleri harika bir şekilde yansıtılmıştı. İtiraf etmek gerekirse Ayşe Kulin bu kitapta harika bir iş çıkarmış. Özellikle anlattıklarının gerçekliğine kapılıp gittiğimi söyleyebilirim. Bu kadar etkili bir yazma yeteneğine sahip olması bende bazı olumsuz etkiler de bıraktı.
Bu olumsuz etkilerden en önemlisi kitabın baş karakteri olan Nimeta. Nimeta bir başkasına aşık oluyor ve kocasını aldatıyor. Ancak kocasını ve ailesini bencil olmamak adına terketmiyor. Ailesinden sorumlu olduğunu düşünüyor. Eğer bunu yapacaksa sevgilisinden ayrılmalı. Ancak Nimeta aynı zamanda sevgilisi ile olan ilişkisine de devam ediyor. Nimeta'nın bu yüzden bencil bir kadın olduğunu düşünüyorum. Kendi bakış açısından bencil olmamak adına iki tarafa da haksızlık yapıyor. Bunu kendi vicdanını rahatlatmak için yaptığını düşünüyorum. Bu da benim onun bencil biri olduğunu düşünmemi sağlıyor. Ayrıca her fırsatta önce Stefan'dan vazgeçiyor. Ama sorun yaşadığı zaman da önce Stefan'a ulaşıyor. Stefan'a çok fazla haksızlık yapıldığını düşünüyorum. Bu benim açımdan oldukça rahatsız ediciydi. Bu satırları okurken pek sakin kalamadım. Stefan, Nimeta'nın evli olduğunu biliyor. Tüm bu yaşayacaklarını bu yüzden göze almış durumda. Ama hala Nimeta'nın onu tercih edebileceğine dair bir inancı var. Çünkü Nimeta onu yaklaşık 3 sene boyunca oyaladı. Her fırsatta durumu kocasına anlatacağına dair söz verdi ama hiçbir zaman sözünü yerine getiremedi. Aslında Nimeta'nın amacı Stefan'a acı çektirmek değildi. Ama Nimeta tüm bunlarla baş edebilecek kadar güçlü bir karakter değildi. Bu yüzden daha güçlü ve kararlı bir karakter okumak isterdim. Bu kadar güzel bir kitapta böyle ikilemler yaşayan bir karakterin olması sinir bozucuydu.
