Desde hace bastante tiempo que no comparto publicaciones en esta comunidad, así que apenas vi que el Community Contest #3 All About Readers estaba vigente me dije a mí misma: "mí misma, ¡tienes que participar" y en un abrir y cerrar de ojos mi entrada de participación ya estaba redactada...en serio, fue así de rápido.
No quiero extender demasiado esta introducción, así que vayamos directo al grano.

It's been quite some time since I've shared posts in this community, so as soon as I saw that the Community Contest #3 All About Readers was up I said to myself: "myself, you have to participate!" and in the blink of an eye my participation entry was already drafted...seriously, it was that quick.
I don't want to make this introduction too long, so let's get right to the point.

My experience as a reader
Mi momento favorito del día para leer siempre será durante las mañanas, durante el inicio del día, básicamente porque siempre he sido una persona diurna y mis horas productivas, donde poseo la concentración al 100%, es cuando despierto y me siento fresca como una lechuga. Además de que una de las mejores sensaciones que existen para mí es leer un buen libro mientras disfruto de la primera taza de café del día o de mi desayuno favorito.
Por otra parte, mi lugar favorito para leer siempre será en lugar calmado, sin demasiado ruido alrededor y lo suficientemente iluminado. En épocas de clases en la Universidad tengo un pequeño rincón en la biblioteca que es mi favorito. La mayoría de las veces siempre está solo y hay unos muebles bastante cómodos cuya vista queda dirigida hacia el campus de mi Universidad, ¡cómo amo ese lugar! También tengo un segundo lugar favorito: el parque que se encuentra en el edificio donde vivo...aunque los bancos de cemento no son demasiado cómodos para durar demasiado tiempo sentada, los árboles, flores y el canto de los pajaritos lo compensa todo.
My favorite time of the day to read will always be during the mornings, during the beginning of the day, basically because I have always been a day person and my productive hours, where I have 100% concentration, is when I wake up and feel fresh as a lettuce. Besides, one of the best sensations for me is reading a good book while enjoying the first cup of coffee of the day or my favorite breakfast.
On the other hand, my favorite place to read will always be in a quiet place, without too much noise around me and with enough light. In times of classes at the University I have a little corner in the library that is my favorite. Most of the time it's always alone and there's quite comfortable furniture with a view of my university campus, how I love that place! I also have a second favorite spot: the park in the building where I live...although the concrete benches are not too comfortable to sit on for too long, the trees, flowers and the birds singing make up for it all.
Quizás pueda parecer un poco anticuada, pero una de las cosas que me hace disfrutar de un libro es tenerlo en físico. Nada de archivos en PDF, nada de leer desde el teléfono o la tablet...¡no, nada de eso! Para mí la verdadera magia de los libros se encuentra en poder tener contacto directo con ellos, poder tocarlos, acariciar cada una de sus páginas y disfrutar de ese olor tan particular que ellos poseen.
Entre otra de las cosas que disfruto de un libro, indudablemente, es la trama y cómo es que los acontecimientos se van desenvolviendo. Si dentro de la narrativa ocurre un giro radical e inesperado, ¡mejor todavía! me gusta ese efecto sorpresa que en ocasiones existe y que en definitiva no te esperabas.
Perhaps I may seem a bit old-fashioned, but one of the things that makes me enjoy a book is having it in physical form. No PDF files, no reading from a phone or tablet...no, none of that! For me the real magic of books lies in being able to have direct contact with them, to be able to touch them, caress each of their pages and enjoy that particular smell they have.
Among the other things I enjoy about a book, undoubtedly, is the plot and how the events unfold. If within the narrative there is a radical and unexpected twist, even better! I like that surprise effect that sometimes exists and that in the end you did not expect.
¿Por qué me gusta tanto leer al aire libre? La verdad es que no tengo respuesta a esa pregunta, pero leer un buen libro mientras estoy en contacto con la naturaleza siempre será mi opción favorita. Sentir el calorcito del Sol en mi piel, escuchar el cantar de los pájaros y disfrutar de esa brisa suave que mueve las hojas de los árboles es algo que no tiene comparación y, sin duda, tener la compañía de un libro convierte ese momento en el mejor de todos.
¿Nunca han probado leer un libro mientras van de paseo a la playa? Esa también es una de las mejores sensaciones que existe. Leer un fragmento de tu libro favorito mientras tomas una refrescante bebida y tienes como sonido de fondo a las olas de mar debería calificar como uno de los tantos placeres de la vida.
Why do I love reading outdoors so much? The truth is that I don't have an answer to that question, but reading a good book while being in contact with nature will always be my favorite option. Feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin, listening to the birds singing and enjoying that soft breeze that moves the leaves of the trees is something that has no comparison and, undoubtedly, having the company of a book turns that moment into the best of all.
Have you ever tried reading a book while going for a walk on the beach? That is also one of the best sensations there is. Reading an excerpt from your favorite book while sipping a refreshing drink and having the sound of the ocean waves in the background should qualify as one of life's many pleasures.
El nivel de intriga que un libro posea es como ese ingrediente esencial y que puede marcar la diferencia para mí. Si la narrativa es demasiado lineal y carece de esa serie de acontecimientos que te hacen estar atento, puede que termine perdiendo el interés en ese libro. Sin embargo, la mayoría de las veces me enfoco en el mensaje que un libro me pueda dejar.
Puede que un libro posea una trama maravillosa y unos personajes épicos que sin duda dejarán una gran huella en nosotros pero que es posible que, con el paso del tiempo, se vaya borrando poco a poco. Esto último no pasaría con un mensaje que trate de transmitirte el autor y que, a la larga, puede incluso servirte como una reflexión, una lección o algo que simplemente puedas aplicar en tu vida para avanzar y ser mejor cada día.
The level of intrigue a book possesses is like that essential ingredient and can make all the difference for me. If the narrative is too linear and lacks that series of events that keep you on your toes, I may end up losing interest in that book. However, most of the time I focus on the message a book can leave me with.
A book may possess a wonderful plot and epic characters that will undoubtedly leave a great impression on us but may, over time, slowly fade away. The latter would not happen with a message that the author tries to convey to you and that, in the long run, may even serve as a reflection, a lesson or something that you can simply apply in your life to move forward and be better every day.
