I'd say there are many paradises on earth. One of it is thrift book store.
Thrift book store often has rare editions of books and limited edition books. When I was in high school, I spent about 3 days going from one book thrift store to another just to find some interesting books to read. One of my most memorable read is Java programming language handbook. I had a laptop then but I was clueless on how to code, let alone know what CLI was. But I read that book and memorized parts of the book. And was it useful? it used to be.
During my school days, whenever I needed some extra pocket money, I went to thrift book stores to sell my school textbooks. School textbooks are less valuable to me because they contain less useful information than a specific book talking about specific subject. Sometimes, in exchange of my old school text-books, I would get some books on programming or a book from advanced classes than mine.
I think that thrift store owner doesn't know how rich he is despite the place looking shabby. I still remember the place was dusty and if the older me went there, I'd probably get sick. Yet when I was younger, that place is one of the places I visited frequently other than the city's library.
As an adult, I have visited some thrift store books in another provinces. However, it does not appeal to me anymore as I would rather go to the normal bookstore. I suppose a lot of me has changed and things I used to love, is no longer something I enjoy. But after taking that picture, once again, I feel curious about the place. Maybe I'll give it a go one more time.
