Aquí les ofrezco un ejercicio poético en prosa (inédito), que hice hace varios años a partir de una pintura de uno de mis artistas preferidos, Gustave Klimt. Lo escribí al ver la reproducción de la pintura en un almanaque que tenía ilustrado con obras del artista. Ya no sé exactamente cuál fue el cuadro que lo motivó; tengo el recuerdo de este que les reproduzco.

Here I offer you a poetic exercise in prose (unpublished) that I did several years ago based on a painting by one of my favorite artists, Gustave Klimt. I wrote it when I saw the reproduction of the painting in an almanac I had illustrated with works by the artist. I no longer know exactly which was the painting that motivated it; I have the memory of this one that I reproduce here.

En el cuadro de Klimt los árboles tejen la arquitectura sagrada del tránsito a la morada.
El claro en el fondo nos espera.

Está ahí Klimt, y su armonía abigarrada de sombras y verticalidad y verdes, en la hoja de julio sobre el blanco de los días inmóviles, sobre el blanco de la pared testigo.

El bosque de Klimt es tan sobrio y único como ese concierto de viola de gamba que Bach toca para este bosque, hoy plantado en la inmediatez de la noche y una habitación acompañadas por la serenidad solícita.

In Klimt's painting the trees weave the sacred architecture of the passage to the abode.
The clearing in the background awaits us.

Klimt is there, and his variegated harmony of shadows and verticality and greens, in the July leaf on the white of the still days, on the white of the witnessing wall.

Klimt's forest is as sober and unique as that viola da gamba concerto that Bach plays for this forest today planted in the immediacy of the night and of a room accompanied by solicitous serenity.
