August, although it is not the month that chronologically divides the year into two halves, somehow works as if it were, perhaps because it is a holiday month in many countries (including mine, Venezuela), but also, for the personal spirit (and perhaps, to a large extent, collective), it seems to be the beginning of another stage of the year. Hence my poetic exercise.
Agosto (poema)
Agosto, tiempo augusto,
que la realidad sea benévola
que la palabra y su memoria
no se asolen ni angustien
Que esté lejos de la sequedad
que la lluvia baje benditamente
y seamos una corriente límpida
sobre esta tierra roturada
Que no seamos término
de la recibida gracia
que nuestra mirada declara
que su augurio nos colme
August (poem)
August, august time,
may reality be benevolent
may the word and its memory
not to be plagued or distressed
May it be far from dryness
may the rain come down blessedly
and let us be a limpid stream
on this broken land
May we be no end
of the grace received
that our gaze declares
may its augury fill us
