Una Navidad en Tumatumari
Era la noche del 22 de diciembre del año 2034, y me encontraba a tan solo minutos de abordar un vuelo que me llevaría desde Paramaribo (capital de Surinam) hasta Caracas, en donde mi familia me estaba esperando para esta forma poder disfrutar con ellos las fiestas decembrinas, todo marchaba según lo planeado y sobre las 7 de la noche ya me encontraba despegando a bordo de un embraer 190, estimaba que mi viaje duraría algo más de 5 horas, ya que realizaría alguna escala, puesto que no existen conexiones directas entre ambos países, lo cual me obligaría a pasar algún rato en la capital de Trinidad y Tobago, al cabo de una hora las cosas se pondría en algo raras, el vuelo parecía perder estabilidad y la turbulencia golpeaba con fuerza todo el fuselaje del avión, de pronto nos encontrábamos en medio de una gran tormenta, el resplandor de los rayos iluminaba en la cabina y una gran sensación de nerviosismo nos embargaba a todos, en diversas oportunidades el capitán trataba de darnos tranquilidad, pero era más que evidente que la situación se complica cada minuto.

It was the night of December 22, 2034, and I was just minutes away from boarding a flight that would take me from Paramaribo (capital of Suriname) to Caracas, where my family was waiting for me to enjoy the Christmas holidays with them, everything was going as planned and around 7 pm and I was taking off aboard an Embraer 190, I estimated that my trip would last a little over 5 hours, as I would make a stopover, since there are no direct connections between the two countries, After an hour things would get a little strange, the flight seemed to lose stability and the turbulence was hitting hard all over the fuselage of the plane, suddenly we were in the middle of a big storm, the glare of lightning illuminated in the cabin and a great sense of nervousness overwhelmed us all, on several occasions the captain tried to reassure us, but it was more than evident that the situation was getting more complicated every minute.
Desde mi ventanilla no podía divisar absolutamente nada, yo que la oscuridad total era interrumpida por algunas milésimas de segundo por de color morado, a los cuales me seguía un ruido abrumador, particularmente no puede hacer absolutamente nada, es por esta razón que únicamente me aseguré de tener bien ajustado mi cinturón de seguridad, cerré mis ojos y desde mi mente comencé a orar a Dios la virgen y los santos para que nos esclarecieran en el camino, no sé cuántos minutos transcurrieron, pero a decir verdad parece una eternidad, encerrado en mí mismo solo pude sentir un gran vacío en mi estómago, por algunos segundos me faltó el aire y a lo lejos se escuchaba al personal de abordo indicando que nos colocáramos en la posición de impacto, que decirle a las cartas estaban echadas el avión se encontraba en un descenso que ya era indetenible.

Un fuerte Impacto, seguido en latigazo y un gran ruido hicieron que perdiera mi conciencia de forma indefinida, en algún determinado momento desperté y me hallé en medio de una llanura, pero al margen de un gran río, como pude me levanté y vi a mi alrededor, el escenario era dantesco, en donde los restos del avión despedazado cubrían grandes extensiones de terreno, no sabía en dónde me encontraba, pero como pude comencé a buscar sobrevivientes y luego de varias horas ya estábamos organizados, aquellos que podíamos caminar tendríamos que salir en la búsqueda de alguna señal de civilización, mientras que los otros debían permanecer a la espera de nuestro regreso, esta forma como decidimos emprender nuestro recorrido por la ribera del río siguiendo su cause, al cabo de pocos kilómetros logramos divisar a un hombre, ese avistamiento generó emoción y nos llenó de energías, todos corrimos para tratar de alcanzarlo, sin duda alguna tenía facciones de ser una persona indígena, podíamos detallar las plumas en su cabeza, su piel pintada de color rojo y una vestimenta algo rudimentaria hecha de palma, mientras que en una mano sostenía una gran lanza con un filo de piedra, en su andar era muy característicos, ya que parecía cojear de un pie, mientras nos acercamos nos dimos cuenta de que toda su pierna derecha se encontraba ausente de su cuerpo, y solo había una estructura elaborada en madera y ataja con soga natural.

De un lado se dibujaba perfectamente la forma de un pie humano, mientras que del otro había un dibujo abstracto que parecía ser el resultado del arrastre de algún objeto, mientras te da a su alrededor pequeñas astillas de madera indicaban que seguramente será el rastro de aquel indígena misterioso que nos habíamos encontrado horas atrás, había algo de miedo un poco de frustración, pero seguimos avanzando siguiendo el rastro encontrado, comenzamos a ver algunas luces, las pequeñas chozas y bastante uno, volvimos a llenarnos de energía y corrimos sin detenernos hasta llegar a ese lugar, al entrar al poblado personas que allí vivían se asustaron un poco, pero sin duda alguna al percatarse de nuestra situación salieron en nuestra ayuda, la mayoría hablaba en inglés, por lo tanto, era casi evidente que estábamos en Trinidad, pero la geografía era muy extraña para hacer esa isla, como pudimos o quisimos entender y le explicamos más o menos en tu recorrido, al cabo de un pequeño tiempo las autoridades se enterarían de lo sucedido y comenzaría a ver más movimiento, a los que estábamos heridos lo llevaron al hospital mientras a los que estábamos en buenas condiciones médicas y chamanes locales nos atenderían de forma perfecta, y el sueño me ganó rápidamente.

Waooo estaba en Venezuela, cuando volteó a mi alrededor soldados bolivarianos lucían con orgullo el Tricolor nacional, mientras que lo más alto de todas las casas las ocho estrellas brillaban con el radiante sol que nace por el Esequibo, el cual no era más que aquel grandioso río lo traíamos caminado sin parar durante kilómetros, toda la tristeza se volvió alegría cuando mi alrededor me encontré a todos aquellos que venían en el avión, esto era sin duda algún lado, Algo extraordinario había sucedido algo que escapaba a mi entendimiento, pero mucha de mis dudas se esclarecieron cuando al mirar hacia una pequeña casa me encuentro con un altar hecho de madera palma, en donde la figura de un hombre indígena de gran estatura, una lanza en la mano y una pierna de madera como la personificación de un Dios ancestral, el cual se caracteriza por ser un espíritu dador de vida el cual siempre busca cuidar y guiar a su pueblo hacia la grandeza y la felicidad.

Era 24 de diciembre la fiesta estaba prendida, pero el corazón algo nostálgico, pues no vería mi familia en esa fecha tan especial, para sorpresa de muchos, pasadas las 3 de la tarde grandes aviones Shaanxi Y8, de transporte a personal del ejército comenzaron a aterrizar en los alrededores de aquel poblado denominado Tumatumari, y de ellos descendían nuestros familiares, los cuales gracias a una gestión interinstitucional llegarían a ese sitio en donde comienza Venezuela para celebrar el milagro de la vida y la gracia de la Navidad, se trató de un momento superespecial donde todos estábamos juntos, en donde la diferencia de idiomas, creencias y costumbres se solaparon gracias al amor, el cariño y el poder de un pueblo que camina como una gran familia, esa noche el niño Dios nacería en cada uno de nuestros corazones derramando sobre nosotros y la patria cuotas de bendiciones alegría y en especial mucha esperanza, se trató de una Navidad en donde el regalo de la vida y de una segunda oportunidad de la superior a cualquier elemento material.
