El Pollo en Espiral
Hola a todos mi nombre es Yuruani, vivo en una pequeña aldea de la etnia pemón llamada Uriman, la cual se ubica en el corazón de la Gran Sabana Venezolana, aquí he aprendido a respetar a la Madre Selva, encontrar alimentos, trabajar duros y honrar a los antepasados, quienes junto a los dioses nos observan desde las cimas de las mesetas nubladas que se encuentran a nuestro alrededor, mi pueblo es una comunidad ancestral, la cual se mantiene fiel a las tradiciones, por lo tanto esta se constituyen en leyes inviolables que marcan de forma definitiva en nuestro estilo de vida, una de esas normas milenarias es a la cual me debo enfrentar, pues al tener 18 años ya es necesario que abandone mi vida de niño y me convierta en un adulto más al servicio de mi comunidad, pero para lograr esto las costumbres estipulan que debo cumplir un gran reto, el cual consiste en adentrarme solo en las pesas selva para buscar y traer con vida a un pollo en espiral macho, el cual se trata de una criatura poco conocida, pero la cual es sinónimo de sabiduría y fuerza.

Hello everyone my name is Yuruani, I live in a small village of the Pemón ethnic group called Uriman, which is located in the heart of the Venezuelan Gran Sabana, here I have learned to respect Mother Jungle, find food, work hard and honor the ancestors, who along with the gods watch us from the tops of the cloudy plateaus that are around us, my people is an ancestral community, which remains faithful to the traditions, therefore these are inviolable laws that mark a definitive way in our way of life, One of these millenary norms is the one that I must face, because being 18 years old it is necessary that I abandon my life as a child and become an adult in the service of my community, but to achieve this the customs stipulate that I must meet a great challenge, which is to enter alone in the jungle weights to find and bring alive a male spiral chicken, which is a little known creature, but which is synonymous with wisdom and strength.
De esta forma lleno de dudas y con el temor de no volver a ver a mi familia asumí mi responsabilidad y comencé a caminar bajo los grandes árboles de una selva que se caracteriza por ser muy espesa, en donde la luz del sol en ocasiones no logra tocar el piso, entendí la llovizna constante resulta ser agobiante Y en donde los peligros acechan en cada esquina y bajo cualquier hoja Y aunque tenía el corazón arrugado mi mente tenía los conocimientos necesarios para afrontar estas dificultades, por lo tanto lo primero que intenté fue buscar un curso de agua, ya que necesitaba mantenerme hidratado y al mismo tiempo sabía que los ríos de esta zona contenían gran cantidad de peces que me serviría como una importante fuente de proteínas.
Thus, full of doubts and with the fear of not seeing my family again, I assumed my responsibility and began to walk under the large trees of a jungle that is characterized by being very thick, where the sunlight sometimes fails to touch the ground, And although my heart was wrinkled, my mind had the necessary knowledge to face these difficulties, so the first thing I tried to do was to look for a water course, since I needed to stay hydrated and at the same time I knew that the rivers in this area contained a large amount of fish that would serve as an important source of protein.
Debo confesarles que a pesar de ser miembro de una comunidad indígena en un lugar inhóspito de mi país, somos una población que cuenta con conocimientos modernos, los cuales son aplicados a la perfección en combinación con nuestras creencias y saberes ancestrales, y cuáles nos permiten vivir a plenitud una vida que es totalmente distinta al del resto de la sociedad, lo que nosotros consideramos que es feliz y que cumple con todos los mandatos y deseos de nuestros ancestros.
I must confess that despite being a member of an indigenous community in an inhospitable place in my country, we are a population with modern knowledge, which is applied to perfection in combination with our beliefs and ancestral knowledge, and which allows us to live a life that is totally different from the rest of society, what we consider to be happy and that fulfills all the mandates and desires of our ancestors.
Mientras pasaban las horas yo ya había recogido algunas provisiones, había creado algunas armas artesanales y me encontraba perfectamente orientado gracias a la posición de las montañas, las cuales podía observar cada cierto tiempo cuando me subí a la copa de los árboles más altos, el día se fue muy rápido y la noche comenzaba a acechar, además venía acompañada con una brisa helada la cual según nuestras creencias es el transitar de aquellas almas que dejaron atrás de esta tierra durante el día de hoy y las cuales se encuentran en su peregrinación hasta la cima del monte kukenan, en dónde serán juzgadas y desde donde partirán a su morada final.

Con muchos pensamientos en mi cabeza de forma improvisada colgué algunas ramas entre dos piedras y sobre ellas puse un colchón de espesas hojas, de esta forma pude realizar una cama que me brindaría descanso y me permitiría recuperar las energías para seguir el día de mañana en mi ardua misión. El alegre cantar de las aves las cuales revoloteaban por todos lados me hizo despertar, lo cual me hizo salir del estado de confort para tener que enfrentarme de nuevo a la realidad que me agobiaba, hoy sí comenzaría mi cacería del pollo en espiral, pues que me había ambientado la selva y ella a mí, por lo tanto ya yo no era un extraño para aquellas criaturas que me rodeaban, sino que de alguna otra manera ya comenzamos a convivir como partes de una misma comunidad, es así como siguiendo rastros, plumas de colores y algunas piezas muy características pude ir acercándome cada vez más a mi objetivo.

De un momento a otro puede avisar a mi presa en un pequeño claro, por lo tanto mi adrenalina comenzó a subir, los latidos de mi corazón se aceleraron quién impulso por atraparlo llego a la racionalidad que me precedía, de esta forma dejé de prestar la atención debida a mi entorno y en cuestión de segundos una pequeña rana amarilla con manchas negras saltaría desde una de las hojas que se encontraba cerca de mi mano, caería sobre ella y de forma inmediata me dejaría su veneno, el cual es una de las toxinas más poderosas que podemos encontrar en el planeta, que solo sin ti como mis dedos comenzaban a dormirse poco a poco, mi visión se nublaba, perdía la audición y una serie de calambres comenzaban a retorcer todos mis ligamentos y coyunturas, se trataba de una sensación tan dolorosa y horrible que me desplomé al instante, increíblemente en ese momento mi mente se encontraba en blanco, todo mi ser parecía estar en pausa y sentía como mi vida se apagaba poco a poco.

En medio de esa increíble agonía yo me encontraba ya entregado y solo esperaba que que mi alma transitara con libertad hasta la cima del Kukenan, de un segundo a otro todo quedó negro y yo no supe más de mí, pero de pronto abrí los ojos y sobre mí estaban aquellos inmensos Árboles de la selva, los recuerdos comenzaban a llegar a mi mente de nuevo, mis brazos piernas y pies comenzaban a moverse y asustado me puse de pie muy rápido, estaba muy desconcertado no sabía que habría pasado, pero al ver mi pecho noté las marcas características de una pisada de pollo, también me di cuenta que mis labios parecían picoteados y fue de allí cuando entendí lo que había sucedido, según los ancestros las lágrimas del pollo espiral contenían propiedades medicinales extraordinarias, las mismas son consideradas un regalo de los dioses y solo se obtienen por voluntad del animal, además cuando volteé encontré a ese bello animal allí posado a pocos metros detrás de mí, me agaché y estiré mi mano, para mi sorpresa él se acercó a mí y en un gesto totalmente increíble dejo que lo cargara.
In the middle of that incredible agony I was already surrendered and I was only waiting for my soul to move freely to the top of Kukenan, from one second to another everything was black and I did not know more about me, but suddenly I opened my eyes and above me were those huge trees of the jungle, the memories began to come to my mind again, my arms, legs and feet began to move and scared I stood up very quickly, I was very puzzled I did not know what had happened, but when I saw my chest I noticed the characteristic marks of a chicken footprint, I also realized that my lips seemed to be pecked and it was then when I understood what had happened, according to the ancestors the tears of the spiral chicken contained extraordinary medicinal properties, they are considered a gift from the gods and are only obtained by the will of the animal, also when I turned around I found that beautiful animal there perched a few meters behind me, I bent down and stretched my hand, to my surprise he approached me and in a totally incredible gesture he let me carry him.
De esta forma pude regresar a mi aldea, al verme todos sintieron una gran emoción, pero ese sentimiento trascendería en fascinación cuando les conté mi historia, fue en ese momento cuando en realidad entendí lo que había sucedido, según nuestro chamán lo acontecido había sido una obra de los mismísimos dioses, al salvarme la vida y presentarse ante mí de forma voluntaria el pollo en espiral había dejado bien en claro un indicio que marcaba un cambio radical en la vida de la comunidad, pues los gestos del animal significaban que los dioses me habían otorgado la dicha y el honor de ser el sucesor del chamán actual y por lo tanto yo debía formarme en los conocimientos ancestrales para de esa manera hacerle frente a una vida más pura y al servicio del pueblo.
