Nada bueno permanece a tu lado, quisieras no sentir absolutamente nada.
"Pain makes you strong"... later, when you've already felt the oxygen running out. Every head is a world and every pain is different for every person. You'd be surprised how many times what didn't kill you, didn't make you stronger either.
For some it's alcohol, for others it's deep cuts in the wrists. For some it's silent walks, for others it's crying themselves to sleep. For some it's meetings and self-help books, for others it's the blood of genocide. Ways of escape, emotional drainage techniques, ways of coping. Love, work, reality, suffering, anger, family, death, studies, shame. We count on one hand the number of times we think there is no longevity.
We are like the hummingbird that visits the flower. We are so desperate for sustainability that we forget happiness. If Desire, Happiness and Time ruled the world.... Everything would be simpler. Money, Ambition and Anarchy rule the world, and many die every day proving it.
We run in search of something like gazelles chased by a wild cat. It is ironic that being at the end of the race, you regret so many things. Those who are left weep for my behavior that leads me to perish soon. Alcohol, drugs, sex. Life is all about consumption, that's what it's all about. I handled it in the worst way possible.
When you are a weak person and pain drowns you, you willingly self-destruct. We weak links don't last without exploding or adopting sarcasm and acid realism. The middle finger in the air and the wink of the eye is not a sign of rebellion and immaturity, it's the sign that "for the moments, we're okay."
Somewhere, however, the countdown will soon claim one of us. We don't let off steam at the moment, we accumulate, we are collectors of crap. They are like bullets in a gun or drops of water in a glass. We are a spilling mess, we are the weapon of the target shooting. We are grenades that when detonated, only destroy themselves. When it happens we feel like we have been buried alive in an iron coffin. Then, when the smoke is gone, we have to deal with the rubble. You may think our life is a theatrical scene, but it's a damn race to stability.
You tried to take me to rehab and I refused, I thought I could do it on my own. I didn't need to drink again, no drugs, but I needed a friend and it didn't hurt so bad. Reality is heavy when you have felt like garbage most of your years. People think they can walk in and out of your life like you're a freaking train station. Nothing good stays by your side, you wish you felt absolutely nothing. You feel like nothing you do is good enough. Your mouth smiles but your eyes are sad. You usually look around and no one is there for you.
You have too much to say but no one is interested in listening. You know from experience that most people never do something just to be nice, you know they always want something in return and when they don't get it, they punish you. You want someone you can trust with all your secrets and weird stuff. You have an incredible tendency to hate yourself or question what's going on. You think you'll be fine with time, but it only gets worse. Everything you think and everything you do is wrong in some way or another. You lose your faith in humanity or yourself and the psychologist was no help. You hate not being able to control how you feel, you seem to be on fire with gasoline. Crowds don't make you feel good and being alone, you have bad thoughts. You feel tired because even though you downplay it, the emotions are heavy and you have to carry that around every day. And when a light comes into the basement, you try to explain that you're terrible at expressing your feelings after all you've been through and it's not because you don't have them or don't care.
You considerably believe that your life is a day of bad decisions. Silence causes a ringing in your ears and a war in your mind. There come nights when you cry yourself to sleep and wake up with the face of a monster. You wonder how the reservoir of tears hasn't dried up by now. It's ironic that the only people you're close to say they love you, but they think you're exaggerating. Some of us survive and after getting through all that black sea, we become cruel.
Many overcome and get out of that lava-filled pool. Others keep a pair of sunglasses for discretion, enjoy a vast amount of time alone, feel lost and end up literally being lost. One look at them and you think they'd send you to the Devil, but they're fragile. Deceptive appearances. Everything can be destroyed, everyone is capable of dying.
There were better days than others and on those, I laughed so much that my abdomen hurt. Photographs and smiles, there was no fog in those days. I never gave up, but carrying the towel in my hand was hard. I had too much life coursing through my veins, but also too much pain. Do you consider euthanasia would be the icing on the cake or do you want me to suffer to the end? There was a hole in my soul and you could see it all the time through my eyes. Oblivion is a constant in the equation and I am not afraid to close my eyes.
Say goodbye to me now because you won't get another chance. But don't cry, don't feel bad. There are so many lives you can save, just by paying attention and making them vibrate one more time. Find them before their brightness collapses like a house of cards on the high seas.
