Shadow Hunters Contest Round 276: My Entry

Shadows follow you wherever you got but sad to say, when things gets dark, they are nowhere to be seen.

Welcome! This is my entry to @melinda010100's shadow hunters Contest Round 276

If you are not familiar to the contest but wants to join, please click the link above to go to the original post.

Last night, there was a power interruption in our place. Zone 2 and Zone 1 are adjacent places divided by the highway and when passed by, the lights on the Zone 1 where our house is was off.

After fetching our son from my mother-in-law's house, we got confident that the power were restored but the opposite happened.

I planned many things with my phone, which didn't happen so I wanted to save the battery as much as I could, I lit my phone flashlight and made a DIY lamp so I could tuen it off before the battery drains.

In an ash tray,( any glass could be used but heat resistant ones are more recommended.) I mixed used oil and salt and I wet a cotton and braced it with a match stick for erection. Before that, I took the part where the match stick would create fire.

I lit the cotton and it didn't rake long before it burns in its own. I was supposed tovook rice yet I set it aside to take photos of the wonderful shadow it created

This is my entry

Later, the lights came back but we decided to turn the electric lights off and use the lamp instead.

Lamps bring back the memories when I was younger; way back, we had no electricity installed, I don't know this technique yet and my parents aks me to buy kerosene at the store to fuel our lamps so we could use something to light us while we study out lessons at night.

Way back, I get shy of doing it, maybe because I saw how my sisters get shy too and it was a very wrong thing I did back then.

Later, my sister called out telling us that the electricity is back. And I yelled back at her that we meant to do it. I wanted my kids to experience some of our experiences in the past to have a wider background in life and that they will experience that life is not bed of roses and is well provided all the time.

Anyway, my kids had a great time playing hand shadows on the wall and the kids get along so well.

I'll end my post with some more of the photos I took, taken in different light setting, created with the phone's automatic settings

Thank you so much for your time and support. Take care!

❤️Yoi
