Do you believe in magic?
I did some long exposures and used a torch and a laser to light up the glass ball. The rest is pure physics. Well, with one exception - as you can imagine, it's impossible to restrict the torch and the laser from lighting up the table. I solved that issue by taking a separate photo without using the torch/laser. Then I stacked them in Photoshop and masked everything outside the ball, making it look neat.
