Shadow Hunters Contest Entry 169 : The Backyard

It’s finally done! Coming in at roughly 1,000 hours of construction time, Hattie’s playhouse was officially completed Mother’s Day, this past Sunday morning. Of course, the instruction manual mentioned 30 – 60 minutes of set up time, but let’s be honest; that’s a stretch for most people. Especially for people like me, who fall in the more “unhandy” arena. Still, I did it; there's something to be said for that.

While I was putting the finishing touches together on the playhouse, and enjoying my morning coffee, I noticed the wonderful shadows dancing across our backyard. “Why not capture the moment,” I thought, “and add as an entry to #shadowhunter community?” Well, as fate would have it, I happened to have my Pixel with me, and I took a few photos of the dancing shadows around me.

For starter’s, there was the sun coming through the fence from the morning’s East, and it left some nice shapes on the green grass (and bloody weeds).

The shadow of the neighbor’s pine tree floating on the side of the garage as if a phantom:

The Japanese lilac tree’s form and shape floating on the fence near me:

And of course the shadow created by beloved Lost coffee mug. Liza gave this to me as a birthday gift the first year we dated…I still use it to this day.

No photos of the Mabes, as she was too busy hiding in the garage due to the wind. Don’t worry though…she was not forgotten on Mother’s Day. She had a litter of puppies in Oklahoma before we got her, and all were “adopted” aside from her. Now she is up here in and enjoying her forever backyard. I went and got her a freeze dried goose neck again for her present…so don't fret. She is much loved up here!

Thanks for checking out my work; I always appreciate contributing where I can!
