| Finland is often called "the country of thousands of lakes". It has about 190,000 lakes, occupying 9% of its area. Our little Estonia can also be called a Lake Land as we have about 1200 natural lakes taking an area of more than one hectare each, and they occupy 4.7% of the country's area. (All numbers are taken from Wikipedia). In the north-east of Estonia, there is a very picturesque region of Kurtna. Here, on an area of about 30 km², there are 42 lakes ranging from 0.2 to 136 hectares. | «Cтраной тысяч озёр» часто называют Финляндию, в которой насчитывается около 190 000 озёр, занимающих 9 % её площади.
