Shadow Hunters Community Contest SMASh - Round 290
A bench is a place where you can see people sitting, eating like a hungry beast, exercising, watching the poor birds rest, or simply watching the leaves fall. We tend to sit and watch the world go by, whether on a park bench, on the bus, in the classroom, or even in the middle of nowhere.
This morning I went to the headquarters of the College of Engineers of the State of Lara, located in the west of the city, to attend an activity not related to the engineering guild, of which I am part because I am an engineer by profession, but the institution lent its spaces for this event, which I attended.
After the activity ended, I drove to the Ayacucho Park, taking advantage of the fact that today is a day off, because the Hispanic American world celebrates what in Spain is known as "Hispanic Heritage Day" (Día de la Hispanidad), and that in Latin America receives different names such as "Day of Race" (Día de la Raza), "American Discovery Day" (Día del Descubrimiento de América), or in the Anglo-Saxon world, "Columbus Day", understanding America as the continent that extends from Alaska to the southern tip of Patagonia, and that is nothing more than the arrival of Christopher Columbus to these distant lands.
Ayacucho Park is an urban space inaugurated in 1933, created to commemorate the first centenary of the Battle of Ayacucho, the last confrontation between the South American troops, commanded by the Venezuelan General Antonio José de Sucre, and the Spanish Empire, which meant the freedom of Peru and the withdrawal of the Spanish.
This park, built in a markedly French architectural style, has an extension of four hectares, and has vehicular access, however, today the passage of vehicles was restricted, so I had to park on the outskirts and walk around it.
It was almost noon and there were few people inside, mainly maintenance personnel and a few people sitting on the benches, probably because of the strong heat and the intensity of the sun. After photographing the central monument, I decided to take pictures of the benches made of wrought iron and wood, and the shadow they cast on the floor, thinking about my participation in the Shadow Hunters Contest this week.
Un banco es un lugar donde se puede ver a la gente sentada, comiendo como una fiera hambrienta, realizando ejercicios, observando a los pobres pájaros descansar, o simplemente, ver a las hojas caer. Tendemos a sentarnos y observar el mundo pasar, bien sea en el banco de un parque, en el autobús, en el aula de clases, o incluso, en medio de la nada.
Esta mañana me dirigí hasta la sede del Colegio de Ingenieros del Estado Lara ubicado en el oeste de la ciudad, para asistir a una actividad no relacionada con el gremio ingenieril, del cual soy parte por ser ingeniero de profesión, sinó que la institución prestó sus espacios para este evento, al que asistí.
Luego de que finalizara la actividad, conduje hasta el Parque Ayacucho aprovechando que hoy es día de asueto, porque el mundo hispanoamericano celebra lo que en España se conoce como "Día de la Hispanidad", y que en América Latina recibe diversos nombres como "Día de la Raza" o "Día del Descubrimiento de América", entendiéndose a América como el continente que se extiende desde Alaska hasta el extremo sur de La Patagonia, y que no es más que la llegada de Cristóbal Colón a estas tierras lejanas.
El Parque Ayacucho es un espacio urbano inaugurado en 1933, creado para conmemorar el primer centenario de la batalla de Ayacucho, el último enfrentamiento entre las tropas sudamericanas, comandadas por el general venezolano Antonio José de Sucre, y el Imperio Español, y que significó la libertad de Perú y la retirada de los españoles.
Este parque construido con un estilo arquitectónico marcadamente francés, posee una extensión de cuatro hectáreas, y cuenta con acceso vehicular, sin embargo, hoy se encontraba restringido el paso de los vehículos, por lo que tuve que estacionarme en las afueras y recorrerlo a pié.
Era prácticamente mediodía y habían pocas personas en su interior, principalmente personal de mantenimiento y alguna que otra persona sentada en los bancos, probablemente por el fuerte calor y la intensidad del sol. Luego de fotografiar el monumento central, decidí tomar imágenes de los bancos elaborados en hierro forjado y madera, y de la sombra que proyectaban sobre el piso, pensando en mi participación del Shadow Hunters Contest de esta semana.
