My first photo is my entry into the Shadow Hunters Contest, round 204 run by @melinda010100. And it depicts the shadow of a metal weathervane.
I show you a bit more from the weathervane and it’s surroundings and a Pretty Cool Division in the next photos. I also give you more information about the wind directions on the ground. You find as names on tiles.
Photos are taken on 16 September 2020, 24 June 2017 and on 23 April 2019 with my iPhone. I wanted to show you more from the area, so I combined my photos from different visits to Tarifa.
Location: Tarifa beach boulevard, Cádiz province, Spain.
THE WEATHERVANE
You can see it looks like a large iron TUNA.
The names on the ground: are actually wind directions. (and if I’m not mistaken, the photos show the direction of the wind- Levante in all photos on 2 different dates)
”Tramontana - North : very rare, very cold, appears especially in spring times.
Gregal - North East: here in Spain everybody calls it Levante, down pressure in the mediterranean and high pressure over the azores, gusty as it passes though the mountains.
In Tarifa the north east is normally mixed with north, pure north east appears just a few times a year and is very stable, people think it is south east.
Levante - East: always cloudy, usually very strong, strong east swell from the mediterranean sea.
Siroco - South-East: never more than 12 knots, very rare in Tarifa. Appears usually in autumn.
Mediodia - South: very rare wind, usually appears between the switch of south west to east. Duration of maximum 48 hours.
Lebache - South-West: stormy wind which brings rain.
Poniente - West: rare wind, beautiful dark blue waters and clear blue skies.
Mistral - North-West: people in Tarifa call it Poniente, cleaning anticyclonic wind, sky cleaner. North west and south west winds have in Tarifa just 5 degrees of difference cause of the complexity of Tarifa’s coast line, that’s why the crowd likes to mis use some of the definitions.”

Let’s look around at the beach… I love it here. It is wide and the sand is very soft. You find a few chiringuitos/ restaurants on the beach with locally caught fish.
