Shadow Hunters/SMASh Contest-Round 240

Distinguished administrators and users of this unique community "Shadowhunters", once again I have the pleasure to present my photographic work for the contest in its 240th version, hoping it will be to your liking.

Today I present the shade of a beautiful Matapalo or Higuerón. This is a huge tree native to Venezuela and Colombia, which has spread through the countries of Central America until reaching Mexico. Its most striking characteristic is that it has a very unusual growth habit, where its long aerial roots develop all over the tree, leaving the trunk and several of its branches as if interwoven, embracing and hanging the bulky trunk. These roots reach the ground, where they are confused with those that come out under the trunk, which are not deep, growing in great abundance almost above the ground. It is not wise to plant this tree near a building, because its roots are destructive, breaking any building, small or large, in its path.

But I am not going to expose you a whole article related to this tree species. The Shade that I mentioned at the beginning belongs to a "Matapalo Bonsai" that is 42 years old. At the moment it is a little mistreated, due to the excessive heat and the little irrigation. It saddens me that it is deteriorating due to lack of water... We try to keep it alive under various techniques that are applied to these tiny trees.

I took the pictures at night, placing a lamp on to make the effect of light and shadow. Then I selected four of them to use in this publication. I used an image editor filter called Befunky.com, to create a different effect within the black and white.

The last one, I filtered it by giving it light and a smoothing effect, using the same image editor.
