These were taken at Chiang Mai Saturday Walking Street in northern Thailand where every week one road is blocked off for traffic and a kilometre of market stalls are put up selling many, many things but particularly crafts and streetfood. It is mainly an evening event but set-up starts in mid-afternoon when the sun is still uncomfortably hot. Most people don't appear until later but a few, such as me, prefer to put up with the heat and look around before the crowds arrive. With the sun lined-up almost directly along the road there are some great shadows of people walking around and still enough space on the road to see and photograph them properly.
