newly pressed coconut oil needs time to clear and for the sediment to fall to the bottom. it is a good idea to keep the oil in the sun for two days for two reasons. the warmth speeds up the sedimentering as well as the evaporation of any water content from the pressing. we pour the oil from the mill bottle into open kettles for this but the oil at the bottom of the bottle is so unclear it is best to keep it separate in a tall thin bottle.
the extra advantage of doing this is that we get a nice reflection on our stone kitchen countertop
