Hola comunidad de Shadow Hunters. Hace algún tiempo compramos una parcela de 2500 metros cuadrados con la ilusión de construir nuestra propia casa. Queríamos poder habitarla, sembrar y hasta pensabamos tener algunas gallinas y pavos para abastecernos de alimentos.
La construcción se inició con la ayuda de familiares y fue muy emocionante, después de haber tenido ese terreno baldío por 13 años, ver que al menos había un techo donde guarecernos mientras hacíamos labores de limpieza o simplemente pasábamos horas de esparcimiento, sembrando y regando las plantas. La mayoría de las veces pasábamos el dia allí, pero regresábamos a casa en la tarde o noche. En contadas ocasiones pasamos la noche durmiendo dentro de una carpa pues los zancudos eran muchos y estaba también el peligro de las serpientes.
Fue en una de esas ocasiones donde pude tomar estas fotos. Tras períodos de intensas lluvias el agua se mantenía mucho tiempo estancada, por ser muy bajo el nivel y por el tipo de terreno, todo lo cual dificultaba el drenaje.
El protagonista de las fotos que más me gustan es el alcaraván https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_stone-curlew . El habitaba nuestra parcela, anidaba allí y la vigilaba con celo. A veces junto a su bandada nos atacaba porque nos acercábamos mucho a su nido, que estaba en pleno suelo.
Hello Shadow Hunters community. Some time ago we bought a 2500 square meter plot with the illusion of building our own house. We wanted to be able to inhabit it, plant crops and we even thought we would have some chickens and turkeys to supply ourselves with food.
The construction began with the help of relatives and it was very exciting, after having had that vacant lot for 13 years, to see that at least there was a roof where we could shelter while we did cleaning work or simply spent hours of recreation, planting and watering the crops floors. Most of the time we spent the day there, but we returned home in the afternoon or evening. On rare occasions we spent the night sleeping inside a tent because the mosquitoes were many and there was also the danger of snakes.
It was on one of those occasions that I was able to take these photos. After periods of heavy rains, the water remained flooded for a long time, due to the low level and the type of terrain, all of which made drainage difficult.
The protagonist of the photos that I like the most is the curlews https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_stone-curlew. He inhabited our plot, nested there and guarded with zeal. Sometimes with his flock he would attack us because we were getting too close to his nest, which was in the middle of the ground.
