The amazing Fitz Roy a few hours after sunrise. It was freezing up there, but it was worth the sacrifice to see it that way. Impeccable, radiant, imposing.
The town at the foot of this mountain is called "El Chaltén", which in the native language of the area means "Smoky Mountain", as they believed it was a volcano. Can you see that cloud emerging from the summit? It is like this every day. The warm sun at dawn condenses the cold contained in the giant rock forming a cloud that almost always ends up covering it as the hours go by. That's why to be sure to see it that way you have to start walking before sunrise. It is worth every step, every minute spent and all the cold of the mountain.
| ESP | El asombroso Fitz Roy pocas horas pasadas desde el amanecer. Estaba gélido ahí arriba, pero valia la pena el sacrificio por verlo así. Impecable, radiante, imponente. El pueblo que se encuentra al pie de esta montaña lleva el nombre de "El Chaltén”, que en el idioma originario de la zona significa “Montaña Humeante”, pues creían que se trataba de un volcan. Alcanzan a ver esa nube que emerge desde la cumbre? Es así todos los días. El sol cálido del amanecer condensa el frío contenido en la gigante roca formando una nube que casi siempre termina por cubrirla con el pasar de las horas. Por eso para asegurarte de verlo así hay que empezar a caminar antes del amanecer. Vale la pena cada paso, cada minuto dedicado y todo el frío de la montaña. |
