Went to the River Caught Shadows not Fish - Entry for the Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest - Round 337

Hello friends, Hivians and fellow shadow hunters. I hope all is well with everyone. Today I enter into the Shadow Hunters SMASh contest (round 337) hosted by @melinda010100. If interested you can make an entry as well just read the guidelines and rules of the contest here.

Monday was a holiday here and I decided to go to the river and do some bank fishing. It was a beautiful day, very sunny and not too hot. This was the first time I fished the Missouri River this year due to it flooding earlier this year.

To get to this location it was about a 15 minute walk on a well traveled nature trail. Most of the trail was shaded on the way to the fishing spot. Also it was nice having my son accompany me. Only did it give me some one to talk to it was nice having a helper to carry things.

I set up camp with the sun at my back and in the shade due to some trees behind me. I chose this location due to it being in a cove. It also was nice to be in the sand almost like a beach area. The shadows were out right away as they were casting both on the river and shore.

It wasn't much later that my poles started to cast shadows. I like how the shadow extends right from the sandy bank into the water. I began to get a few bites but no fish were landed to show for it.

Just about everything had a shadow. Even my bait casted a shadow. At least the bait caught something, right? What you see is shrimp, worms, blue gill and some good smelling stink bait, hehe.

A bit later the sun rays were coming from different angles. This caused the fisherman to get caught with a shadow. I was wearing a hat and on top of my hat were my shades 😎 Out of these two photos I like the latter. I just think it portrays the shadow more clearer and is my photo entry for this contest.

I spent about 3 hours fishing today and I must have seen about 30 water crafts fly by us. There were jon boats, speed boats, kayaks, pontoons and even jet skis. Another thing that happened twice while we were there was hearing a train chugging and blowing it's horn. It was pretty cool to hear as this sound had an echoing effect once the sound passed through the forrest.

I show you one last shadow caught. This time the shadow catches me in action. Unfortunately I wasn't bringing in a monster fish just reeling it in to prepare to hang it up for the day. I caught no fish but I caught many shadows.

It was a great time out and I got to do some bonding with my son. An activity which is limited now that he is a busy college student athlete. I had a half dozen or so bites but only once did I have a good bite where I thought I was going to catch a fish. It didn't happen as the fish spit the hook. So no big tales to tell but it would have been cool to hoist one up and catch the shadow in the sand. Oh well I thought I did well catching shadows though. I hope you enjoyed them.

Take care, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your week.
