The airport is shaped like a dove flying upward.
A little history
In 1927 they began to think about an airport but then it was not considered important and it was abandoned since, as we are surrounded by mountains, it seemed a very risky project.
The war came and they needed a runway and that is how our airport began in 1940, it was decided to expand it for civil travel, in 1948 it was inaugurated.
Many years passed and each one of them got better little by little, there was more and more air traffic

Un poco de historia
En 1927 se empezó a pensar en un aeropuerto pero luego no se consideró importante y se abandonó ya que como estamos rodeados de montañas parecía un proyecto muy arriesgado.
Llego la guerra y necesitaban una pista y así empezó nuestro aeropuerto en 1940 se decidió ampliarlo para los viajes civiles, en 1948 se inauguró.
Pasaron muchos años y cada uno de ellos se fue mejorando poco a poco, cada vez había más tráfico aéreo

The terminals have a surface area of 32,000 square meters and it continues to grow.

An airport in the north of Spain with abundant rains and rather cold weather, I designed an airport for the south, that caused many problems with air currents and the rain entered from all sides, that did not like much since the design limped in comfort.

Como todo lo que crea Calatrava es bella pero poco práctica.
Un aeropuerto en el norte de España con lluvias abundantes y clima más bien frio, diseño un aeropuerto para el sur, eso ocasiono muchos problemas de corrientes de aire y la lluvia entraba por todos los lados, eso no gusto mucho ya que el diseño cojeaba en confort.
11 years later the waiting rooms had to be expanded and closed so that it no longer rained inside.
These works are planned with a budget of 31 million euros and a duration of 14 months.

CONIBRIDGE SYSTEM

11 años después se tuvo que ampliar y cerrar las salas de espera haciendo que ya no lloviera dentro.
Estas obras se plantean con un presupuesto de 31 millones de euros y con una duración de 14 meses.
Usando las últimas técnicas, entre ellas:
SISTEMA CONIBRIDGE
(Lo que hace leer para hacer una entrada un poco decente para vosotros, no conocía esta técnica ya que no es mi campo, pero me ha parecido muy interesante)
Es un sistema de termalización de lo más moderno a base resina de poliuretano, especialmente indicado para la impermeabilización de tableros puente.
Se caracteriza por su gran resistencia y elasticidad, muy resistente al frio ya que aguanta hasta los -40 grados (no eso no me lo puedo imaginar, así que espero que bajen tanto las temperaturas)

Siendo el aeropuerto más importante de la zona del cantábrico, sigue creciendo día a día, recuerdo viejos colegios y caseríos así como huertas que las pistas se comieron, ya que no hay mucho espacio libre y cada día los aviones son más grandes y necesitan pistas más largas.
We also see the Falcon.

But this Falcon is static with its concrete silhouette that if you look at it, it looks like the bird itself.
Like the animal, he takes care that all the planes are in their exact place and that everything works as it should.
Pero este Halcón esta estático con su silueta de hormigón que si te fijas parece el ave misma.
Como el animal, cuida que todos los aviones estén en su sitio exacto y que todo funcione como es debido.
I suppose that like all airports it grows day by day and in ten years it will be completely different.

Supongo que como todos los aeropuertos crece día a día y dentro de diez años será completamente distinta.
