Hoy os quiero mostrar una de las edificaciones más originales y curiosas que se pueden visitar por la zona del Campo de Gibraltar.
Today I want to show you one of the most original and curious buildings that can be visited in the area of Campo de Gibraltar.
Esta edificación fue realizada por concurso de arquitectura y como muchos de los concursos son las obras que más impacto visual causan y mayor eficiencia a nivel usos posteriores del proyecto.
This building was built in an architectural competition and as many of the competitions are the works that cause more visual impact and greater efficiency in terms of subsequent uses of the project.
Es obra del Arquitecto Fernando Garrido y recibió el primer premio de Arquitectura en 1.968.
It is the work of the architect Fernando Garrido and received the first prize for Architecture in 1968.
La fachada exterior del edificio no pasa inadvertido para nadie puesto que además de estar situado frente a una gran glorieta que le da una gran visibilidad frente a la bahía, es la parte donde podemos ver su forma de mayor forma.
The exterior façade of the building does not go unnoticed by anyone since, in addition to being located in front of a large roundabout that gives it a great visibility facing the bay, it is the part where we can see its shape in the largest way.
Su forma de inspiración es la de una gran caracola , es por ello que la construcción gira en si misma desde su eje central. Una forma nada vista y desde ojos de todos muy original y certera.

Desde su encargo se sabía que su uso sería como edificio educativo, hoy día sigue siendo un edificio en el que se dan cursos de artes y oficios.
Tales como diseño grafico, fotografía, bachillerato de arte, diseño de artes cerámicos entre otros. Todos ellos módulos de formación con talleres para la realización de las practicas.
Since it was commissioned, it was known that it would be used as an educational building, and today it is still a building in which courses in arts and crafts are given.

Es por ello que en los exteriores de él, podemos ver al quijote más actual y moderno que fue realizado en dicha escuela aproximadamente entre los años 70-80 con materiales reciclados. Un hidalgo muy diferente y actual para el momento, montado sobre una vespa.

El tener este tipo de escultura en su zona exterior a primera línea de visión de la fachada principal hace que aún más se considere la arquitectura como un modo de vida artística.
If the building makes us feel that architecture is really an art form, as we should all think, I think.
Having this kind of sculpture on the outside of the building in the first line of sight of the main façade makes you even more aware of architecture as an artistic way of life.
Me encanta pasar dentro y ver el bullicio de los estudiantes entre sus pasarelas exteriores.
Disfrutar un poco de ese ambiente cultural que tiene el arte, esa atractiva forma de vida tan visual y diferente que conllevan las escuelas de arte. Donde puedes ver a personas de estilos tan diversos creando y disfrutando del entorno en completa armonía.
I love to walk inside and see the hustle and bustle of the students among its outdoor walkways.
To enjoy a bit of that cultural atmosphere that art has, that attractive, visual and different way of life that art schools bring. Where you can see people of such diverse styles creating and enjoying the environment in complete harmony.
Volviendo a el proyecto de arquitectura en sí, podemos ver como las ventanas están realizadas a modo de vidrieras que de forma escalonada van dando luz a lo que son las aulas.
Es una forma muy curiosa a la par de practica visual de que todas las estancias del complejo tengan el mismo número de ventanas y por tanto una equidad en su final.
Returning to the architectural project itself, we can see how the windows are made in the form of stained glass windows that in a staggered way give light to the classrooms.
It is a very curious and at the same time visually practical way of ensuring that all the rooms in the complex have the same number of windows and therefore an equal number of windows at the end.
Un proyecto que desde todos los puntos de vista, fue creado y supervisado al detalle.

Además de ello, algo que me llamó muchísimo la atención, no por su arquitectura sino por su situación geográfica fue el hecho de que las galerías que llevan a las aulas, estuviesen abiertas.
Algo que desde primer momento me resulto algo chocante pero resulta que la forma de la cubierta de las mismas y en sí, la forma de espiral del proyecto, hace que en los días de lluvia, tanto de vientos de levante como de poniente. El agua no entre en ellas.
In addition to this, something that caught my attention, not because of its architecture but because of its geographical location, was the fact that the galleries leading to the classrooms were open.
Something that from the first moment I found somewhat shocking, but it turns out that the shape of the roof of the galleries and the spiral shape of the project itself, means that on rainy days, whether from the east or the west, the water does not enter them. The water does not enter them.
