Architecture + Design: Architectural fog 1928.

In our time, when there are many databases and registries, it may seem strange that you will not be able to find information about some architectural monuments that will give you an understanding of who their architect was, who and how they operated these buildings.

This information is, as it were, covered with a thick fog of the past tense and is completely erased from the history of mankind.

Probably, in every city you can see something like that.

And, the city is exactly. which is located in the northwestern part of Ukraine, is no exception.

At the intersection of two streets, Dragomanovi and July 16, you can see an interesting building, which, after a lot of renovation work, has slightly lost its own. initial appearance. but, there is a stigma that says that the one who erected it wanted to capture the day, or rather, the year, when the roof crowned the walls of this building.

High-rise buildings hide the former grandeur of this building in their shadows.

The date 1928 can be seen on the attic of the facade.

This is the year, most likely, when this house was put into operation.

Under this date you can see a rusty clock that once showed the exact time, but I think this clock appeared much later than this building.

Miniature balconies adorn the walls of the second floor of the building.

Window openings, both arched and rectangular.

Apparently, the architect wanted the facade of the building to look like a Catholic church in the Gothic style, and what was outside the corner of the block worried him less.

In fact, this corner facade is the main highlight of this building.

The veranda with high, arched, Gothic windows is decorated with stained-glass windows.

If you went out on such a balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee, then you would feel like the ruler of the world).

This is how this veranda, or outbuilding, looks from the side.

I doubt the drainpipe looked as shabby then as it does today.

It is a pity that the work of the tinsmiths of those times has not survived.

Now, I propose to look at this building from different angles.

We will not be in a hurry, like many passers-by who have no time to stop and look around.

Today, this building houses many offices, pubs and a medical laboratory.

A glance at the roof reveals that the attic floor was added much later and the original shape of the roof was changed.

The race for square meters makes people forget about preserving the original appearance of architectural monuments, but what did it look like initially?

This is fog.

The fact that this house has a basement floor amazed me.

The architect was not stopped by the high level of groundwater in this part of the city.

Of course, this building is a rather modest masterpiece of architecture, but it can be seen with what love the architect treated his work, who took up his pen and began to draw the first sketches of this building.

It was created for people, in order to please their eyes and become one with the world around us.

This is not a typical project, it was created for this, the one and only place in our city.

While trying to find more information about this house, I came across an investigation by a journalist who, like me, wanted to know more about this building, like me.

He interviewed many people, old-timers, who expressed their version and memories.

Someone said that there was a deli on the second floor, someone talked about the murder of historical figures in this house, and someone recalled that a famous movie actor lived here.

As a result, the secret of this house remained a secret of 1928, or, simply, a fog.
